Romney: "Wimp" or "Prep School Bully"? (updated )

Is Mitt Romney a wimp? That’s our cover this week, which asks if the former Massachusetts governor—who’s dodging the press, hiding his tax returns, and fearing the base—is too insecure to be president.

Romney Laughs Off Newsweek ‘Wimp’ Cover

Mitt Romney laughed off a question about whether he’s worried about Newsweek’s latest cover story labeling him a “wimp.”

“If I worried about what the media said I wouldn’t get much sleep and I’m able to sleep pretty well,” he said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’ “Face The Nation.”

Asked if he’s ever been called a wimp before, Romney said with a laugh, ”I don’t recall that, no.”

Senior Obama Adviser Calls Romney A ‘Prep School Bully’

Obama campaign senior adviser Robert Gibbs defended the president’s attack ads on Mitt Romney, calling them an effort to defend against Romney’s displayed tendency during the primaries to tear down his opponents with attacks.

“We’re not going to let him play his tried and true role as prep school bully,” Gibbs said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

He's both: A coward who likes to prey on the vulnerable.

Updated to add the essence of Romney:

Romney Suggests Releasing Additional Tax Returns Could Be Politically Damaging

By Igor Volsky

Mitt Romney appeared on Fox & Friends Monday morning to respond to the growing number of conservatives who are calling on the former Massachusetts governor to release more of his tax returns.

At least eight Republicans have urged Romney to publicize the records and put the issue behind him, but the candidate is sticking to his guns. The public will see just two years of returns and no more, Romney said, before appearing to admit that the records may contain something politically damaging:

ROMNEY: The Obama people keep on wanting more and more and more. More things to pick through, more things for their opposition research to try make a mountain out of and to distort and to be dishonest about. We’re going to put out two years of tax returns.

Watch it:

He bullied and assaulted a gay classmate, and got away with it. Romney was the son of the governor, the bullied/assaulted kid was not.

During the height of the Vietnam War draft, Romney conveniently spent more than two years in France as a Mormon missionary.

While there, he drove the wrong way on a small-town road and caused a head-on collision that killed one person in his car. He lied that a "drunk priest" (Bishop Jean Vilnet, who was not drunk but was seriously injured by the negligent Mormon draft evader) caused the fatal accident.

The police-impersonator story is either another harmless young Mitt prank, or a sign that Romney likes to dominate and humiliate people, even his own family, on vacation at his NH lakefront estate.

Making "wimp" references, and insinuating insecurity are almost always reserved for Democrats. It's kind of shocking to see it in reference to a republican. Especially from Newsweek.

And, good for Robert Gibbs! No wimpy mincing of words there. Please keep up the good work!
