Tariff war US will lose bigly as anything we sell can be bought somewhere else but what we buy is mostly made in China. US farmers could take a bigger hit.

It's tempting to see where the market is at a particular point in the trading day and assume that whatever direction it's heading is the direction it will continue to head.

On Monday, the downward move of the market was followed closely and even described by some as a "crash". The fact that it began to recover and continued to do so on Tuesday -- not a lot of posts about that.

And today folks saw the futures market and the early movement of the market as, once again, evidence that the market was tanking. But by the end of the day? Not so much.

The market is down over the past several months, which should be shocking to no one -- it was inflated and everyone knew it and that makes for volatility. That volatility is accentuated because people still react to a move of 300 points the same way as they did when the market was 6000, when in fact a move of 300 points is not nearly as significant when the market is at 24,000.

Which was the day before Trump’s big tariff announcement re: aluminum and steel.

This is not going to work economically. But I see how it would work for him politically with the meatheads who don’t understand cause and effect of protectionism.

a week after a couple of our favorite billionaires announced plans at the end of January to create a new healthcare organization, although business pundits seem to suggest it had to do with attempts to stimulate the labor market with what will be more debt... as well as jitters resulting in the end of QE.

Then it recovered somewhat, but recent trade news has pretty much wiped out those gains.
