If you ever wanted to understand apathy, spend 1 minute watching Sarah Huckabee Sanders reading the Easter story to children at the White House Easter Egg Roll

Didn't anyone read to her when she was a child? What if any of the kids ask questions about that story?

and if people pay attention, they can sometimes detect the "energy" of place, just like we can often detect the energy of people. (Ever meet someone you instinctively disliked or wanted to get away from?)

Once upon a time I had to go on a business trip to Little Rock. I had NO preconceived ideas about the place, but I swear, as I was driving into town from the airport, the energy of that place was "Ignernt and proud of it." It was quite startling.
