Interesting point from CNN tonight:

Anderson Cooper is interviewing Eric Swalwell. In the course of the interview Swalwell said "I'm here in Iowa speaking to voters"!!!

WHAT? Might he be thinking of running for President soon? What other reason would a California Congressman have to be in Iowa?

To me that would be fantastic!

Still does not make him a viable candidate.
I think we will have a slew of contenders swarming for 2020.

Amy Klobucher, Xavier Becerra, Jay Inslee (my governor), Sherrod Brown, -- and that's just off the top of my head.

There are a number of excellent candidates; some of us just haven't been paying attention.

On the other hand, maybe he's helping to campaign for local Iowa candidates and boosting the campaign of Steve King's Democratic opponent. Which would be very cool.

But he is only 37 right now... a bit young to run for President.

OTOH he is one of the fewer next-generation Democrats with name recognition and camera time. He appears to be knowledgeable and intelligent and can hold his own against any repuke.

If he was now 47 and maybe replaced Feinstein as Senator from CA...

or challenge Gavin Newsome for the Governorship

Even better would be to run as a progressive Governor from a "purple state".

People in the rest of the country don't like Californians for some reason
