Showing the juvenile system, etc.
I wanted to watch it because "Omar" or Michael K. Williams (The Wire) was the narrator, buy I wish I hadnt, the producers of the show went out of their way to make it about the Clinton's.
Just another day in the anti Clinton world we live in.

Repubs in congress are not the only ones they're turning their screws on until they threaten to destroy. It's time for all who owe them to come through big time. Or else.

(5,272 posts)party today doesn't exist by virtue of some fluke or aberration. It exists as a natural progression of the direction our country has taken in Republican years far more severely, but in democratic years as well. It can be argued that the Clintons had different challenges of the time, which I would agree with, and social media was not yet a real counter to vice-grip that corporate media had on information. But your solution to our problem is anything but.

(54,427 posts)"The Clinton's" what? Clinton's/Clintons' charisma? Clinton's/Clintons' accomplishments? Clinton's/Clintons' campaign?
Or is this a Republicanese plural? (Republicanese uses an apostrophe to from a plural, English does not)
The sooner we stop doing this, the sooner Republicans can no longer point to it and laugh at us (and they do).
Other than that, we don't get HBO (or any American TV) here, but I'm pretty sure I would agree with the rest of your post

(1,399 posts)Did not directly lead to the incarceration of hundreds of thousands of young black males and the destruction of urban communities? Or are you saying it did but we shouldn't talk about it because it hurts someone's reputation?
How is this more important to our party's FUTURE than fighting to correct a bad policy?

(1,399 posts)That would be an issue. Bill Clinton RAN on what would become the Crime Bill and he RAN on welfare reform. Trying to whitewash that, divert attention from that, or deny the devastation it caused just to prevent criticism of a particular political figure is not just idolatry, it will kill our party.

Michael K. Williams is one of Hollywoods best character actors, and while his career ranges across genres and subject matter, hes made a particularly strong impression in two shows: The Wire and The Night Of, which both took clinical, journalistic looks at the criminal-justice system. But even with those shows in mind, the documentary Williams has made for the sixth-season premiere of Vice on HBO is a revelation: a thorough, sophisticated, and emotional look at juvenile incarceration, Raised in the System shines a light on the heart of an American crisis. Ahead of its airing on Friday night, Vulture called Williams to talk about his personal connection to the issue, how a meeting with President Obama inspired the project, and the role that shows like The Night Of can play in highlighting social injustice.
