Richest 1% on target to own two-thirds of all wealth by 2030

An alarming projection produced by the House of Commons library suggests that if trends seen since the 2008 financial crash were to continue, then the top 1% will hold 64% of the world’s wealth by 2030.

-- skip --

Since 2008, the wealth of the richest 1% has been growing at an average of 6% a year – much faster than the 3% growth in wealth of the remaining 99% of the world’s population.
Should that continue, the top 1% would hold wealth equating to $305 trillion – up from $140 trillion today.

New polling by Opinium suggests that voters perceive a major problem with the influence exerted by the very wealthy.

And certainly not when not everyone has good health care, education, working conditions, housing, and leisure/rest.

But they also set their baseline right after a huge devaluation of assets, so that they have a fairly biased starting point.

If they'd picked 2007 or nearly any year before that they'd have a rather different result. If they picked 2009 or any year after that they'd have a rather different result. 2008 was picked to give the kind of result they wanted.

Or what happened to the upper classes after the French and Russian revolutions? They had everything, then they had nothing, in some cases, not even life.

Unfortunately, owning those towers and the means to operate them will again favor the rich.

I don't expect the rich to starve in anyway other than in prison after a revolution. History has shown time after time that when wealth becomes hyper concentrated in a few hands, revolutions result and wealth is redistributed, often with, murder, chaos and dictatorship existing during that process.

Depending on what is being grown. And there is no need for sunlight due to tuned grow lights giving plants the exact wavelength for optimal growth and yield. Scary shit, but a reality that is coming.
