news to the point I just don't want to hear any more of it. Is there anyone else that is just
burned out with the last couple years to the point they don't want to watch any national news any more?
I turn on MSNBC and CNN and it is all Trump all the time. Then there is Fox that just makes excuses for the moron all the tome.

(5,754 posts)I started reading the Maisie Dobbs crime novels, set in the UK in the 1920s and 1930s, about the work of a smart woman in a different place and time.

(7,888 posts)I do agree. Ratings are the thing in media. It appears some are willing to sell their soul for it.
The anchors are following corporate demands. I no longer watch MSNBC as much because the live coverage is all about what IT said or tweeted instead of real journalism, with several exceptions.

That is tRdump's game plan - to wear you down and out - exceed your limits of tolerance - then he outlasted you and he then claims victory for his self.

(15,805 posts)I suspect that most people are so inundated with the constant daily barrage of his oafish demeanor, the lies, his thoughtlessness, immorality, the vindictive cruelties, and impulsive outbursts, that everyone is overwhelmed and burned out. I don't want to hear him brag and boast, its a horrorshow, and I don't want to hear about his latest appalling villainy.
I, too, am at the point where I just want to tune him out to preserve my own sanity. But then I have to remind myself that Trump says he relishes creating the entropy of discord and confusion because he ends up getting his way. He has a long history of using those methods to eliminate the opposition, but he won't drive me off. So I have to force myself to take a deep breath, be calm and carry on, and watch everything he does to fortify my resolve.
Hang in there and remember it all, don't give in and let Trump win.

(21,744 posts)When we all got Clinton fatigue after hearing about Monica Lewinsky for several years, he was out the door. Trump has accelerated it, so maybe that's a good thing.
We just have to win the midterms bigly to minimize the damage as much as possible.

But I watch the news for a bit because it doesnt take long to catch up. Just long enough so I dont get angry because he wants to fatigue us into giving up.
But I have the same problem you do. I just cant stomach him or his people anymore.

(12,155 posts)Not only do you get a lower percentage of Trump, but also news from other parts of the world as well as in-depth feature stories. Helps keep things in perspective.
Then again, there's also taking a walk, playing a musical instrument, conversing with friends, playing a board game, spending quality time with a beloved pet, etc. We all need a break from the endless stream of breathless Trump obsession.

(58,785 posts)As for the eternal, constant repetitive talk about him, that's easy -- for those who can pass a car wreak without slowing to gawk. Turn the boob tube off. How many times every day do any of us need to hear the differences between witness, subject, and target, or what it means that Trump claims not to know of the payment to whatshername?
Newspapers and journals cover a ton of stuff that's not about him.
