So the GOP MASTER PLAN to stave off the BLUE WAVE is to scare voters with IMPEACHMENT talk?

WASHINGTON — As Republican leaders scramble to stave off a Democratic wave or at least mitigate their party’s losses in November, a strategy is emerging on the right for how to energize conservatives and drive a wedge between the anti-Trump left and moderate voters: warn that Democrats will immediately move to impeach President Trump if they capture the House.

What began last year as blaring political hyperbole on the right — the stuff of bold-lettered direct mail fund-raising pitches from little-known groups warning of a looming American “coup” — is now steadily drifting into the main currents of the 2018 message for Republicans.

The appeals have become a surefire way for candidates to raise small contributions from grass-roots conservatives who are devoted to Mr. Trump, veteran Republican fund-raisers say. But party strategists also believe that floating the possibility of impeachment can also act as a sort of scared-straight motivational tool for turnout. Last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas used his re-election kickoff rally to introduce a video featuring a faux news anchor reading would-be headlines were conservatives not to vote in November.

“Senate Majority Leader Schumer announced the impeachment trial of President Trump,” one of the anchors says.

It looks like the gop will save the DNC some money on ad buys this summer.

This will backfire so fabulously in their corrupt little faces.

Then, they see all of the GOPers who are working with Russia, against US interests and vote to fire the lot.

All it's going to do is fire up the 2/3 of the country that WANT him impeached. Millions of non-voters are now going to say, "You mean, if we vote out the republicans in Congress, we can get rid of this asshole??? I'M IN!!! Where do I register?"

Dems should also be ready to refute that raising the minimum wage will make US-produced goods and services un-affordable.

And teachers in Kentucky, Oklahoma and West Virginia have shown that campaigning on increased funding to public schools so that we are spending more $ on schools than prisons could be a BIG WINNER for the Dems!

So the Dems can be and run FOR something other than just being against Trump!

Running to raise the minimum wage and improving school funding may grab and hold the attention of working Americans MORE than Impeaching the corrupt Orange anus in the WH!

Both at local and national levels. That they are running on impeachment is nonsense. Very few have even talked about it- that’s a RW meme, for fucks sake.

The GOP theory is, if the American people vote Democratic in November the new Congress will erase all Trump's gains.

Well...since the only things Trump has actually done is to go on vacation, embarrass the country, cut his own taxes and...(insert other thing Trump has done if he ever decides to do one), erasing Trump's gains would probably be a good idea.

I think 2018 is written off, the scary thing is what are they planning for 2020? How much ground will we lose back to them keeping in mind they will still have a solid gerrymandering advantage that cycle, it won't be until 2022 that they MIGHT lose some of the gerrymandering advantage.

our leaders don't capitulate ahead of time. I remember 2006, when impeachment was taken off the table by our own side. Let THEM bleat on about impeachment. It is unnecessary for our side to even entertain the notion. Redirect and do not become boxed in.

So that if Dems win, they would be held by their base and the majority vote to impeach Trump. Dems seem willing to give the impeachment card a pass so far, but their hand is being forced. Cool. Let's win and impeach the motherfucker.

First, the only thing worse that not impeaching Trump would be doing it without the ability of success, and allowing him to claim he'd been exonerated.

Second, the voters we're trying to attract want people in Washington dealing with the economy, health care, guns and "real issues", not impeachment.

The ONLY thing that should be said is that we're waiting for Mueller's investigation to conclude and then we will see what happens. Make sure the ONLY people talking impeachment are the republicans.
