Trump's Obstruction Of Justice Tweet Has People Wondering If He's Admitting To It

ByMONICA HUNTER-HART

President Trump's early-morning Twitter rant on Wednesday took a turn that some social media users believed was nearly incriminating. When the president wrote that he hadn't committed obstruction "other than I fight back," people on Twitter wondered whether the post amounted to Trump admitting to obstruction of justice.

I (we) are doing things that nobody thought possible, despite the never ending and corrupt Russia Investigation, which takes tremendous time and focus. No Collusion or Obstruction (other than I fight back), so now they do the Unthinkable, and RAID a lawyers office for information! BAD!

Twitter users were struck by the phrasing of his tweet. Saying that you didn't do something but then immediately adding an exception ("other than&quot sounds like an admission of guilt, they argued.

"Is he....admitting to obstruction?" wrote MSNBC reporter Chris Hayes. "Trump just said no obstruction 'other than I fight back' … That's obstruction," said Rant Media's Ahmed Baba. "The hidden benefit of insomnia is watching Trump admit to obstruction of justice on Twitter in real time," wrote author Molly Knight.

there's the question of WHY he's so obsessed with this that, by his own admission, he's now unable to govern (not that he ever could).

In a more sane administration this would be handled by attorneys and met with appropriate legal actions, not tweet storms.

The man is as incompetent as he is corrupt. The current world's number one argument against inherited wealth. Without his inheritance, this man would be nothing.

He lacks the intelligence and intellect to be dog catcher, yet enough morons in this country voted against reason, logic, their own interests and the future of the nation to elect a circus clown to be POTUS...I will NEVER forgive Trump voters, period.

i love some of them very much (brother, sister, etc). right now i don't talk to my brother because i'm afraid a permanent split may result; my sister and i talk rarely and never politics. the times she's brought politics up she got way more than she was bargaining for with my response.

My sister and I have spoken only 3 times since the election and got into an argument following our grandmother's funeral over whether or not talking politics (between my father and myself) was appropriate in ear shot of her children (because she claims all non-Fox News is slanted and anti-Trump).

She is essentially parroting the opinions of my conspiracy-theory loving, hard right-wing nut job brother-in-law, but she also allows him to tell her how she should vote and what she should say or talk about it. Nasty, nasty man and breaks my heart to see my sister and nieces and nephews being led by the nose down his path...

If my sister ever leaves him, she knows she always has my support but while she is with him and espousing his views, we have no social relationship at all and outside of mandatory family gatherings, we simply do not communicate any more...heart-breaking, but I refuse to allow anyone to normalize Trump or pretend he is OK in my presence and that is non-negotiable. Fuck that Orange shit-gibbon forever.

Only Trump could take an inheritance, daddy's connections, and still wind up bankrupting a casino. He is really unfit for any job, and luckily for him he never had one. People and women have sucked up to him his whole life for his money and the power that brought. He is unfit to be night manager at a dairy queen. Shocking that our political system failed so badly that we have to deal with this moron every day.

In his mind, everything should line up with the decisions he's made. No shades of gray. Laws should yield to him and not the other way around. His whole life has been led in that way. A developer getting done what HE wants done. He was ill-suited for this job from the beginning as so many important people noted during the campaign. The press was played just like everyone else. He is the greatest con man in history

The republican (lack of) leadership is even more guilty for enabling this abuse of America!

They could put a stop to this if they cared about this country.

that statement as an admission to obstruction by itself, it’s too broad a statement. He has reportedly made more incriminating statements to the Russian Ambassador who will never testify against Trump. And no doubt he will make more specific incriminating statements like he did to Lester Holt. This is why no first rate lawyer will ever represent him. I am a criminal defense lawyer and the first thing I do when representing a client is to instruct them to not talk about the charges or case to anyone. Cardinal rule of criminal defense is to instruct the accused to remain silent and, of course, pay his legal bill. Trump won’t shut up or pay his lawyers which in the end will be his doom.

i find it ironic that what will take him down is his HONESTY and not his perfidy. obviously he should go down either way, but he keeps shooting himself in the foot and as you said, he can't even hire a decent lawyer now.

they talk to the police because they are either scared, or lie to cops and/or are tricked into talking. I would say about at least 50% of defendants are convicted by their own words that’s why lawyers say don’t talk to police let alone the media. To be fair, most people don’t know better but Grump is just a stone cold idiot. A lawyer’s worst nightmare.
