Now we need to turn to the Senate . . . . .

Ryan's resignation is likely to cause a few things to happen. His decision not to run again could add to the number of GOPeers who choose to retire. It will also have a depressive effect on GOPee voters. I think his announcement today opens even wider our door back to some degree of power.

As the House has long looked to be a possibility for us, the Senate has been less possible, but still gettable. Without looking at individual races, the fact is we need to pick up just two seats. I know we have tough races to face, but there are also signs (growing brighter) that our chances are actually improving. Look at Tennessee and Phil Bredesen. He looks strong next to crazy nut job Blackburn. On our side, the worries are the likes of Heitkamp. But even there, we have the advantage of incumbency.

We will start to hear all the "good advice" that the Democrats "need" X, Y, and Z. I disagree. I think we need just one thing. Unity. We CAN do this. The field is more fertile than it has been in a long, long time.
