Why does the media keep saying Ryan has a "young" family, to excuse his quitting Congress?

The guy is 48 and I think his kids are in their late teens, about to leave for college. They have been saying this about him for years.

i would prefer a story about how before her death he had harvested some of ayn rands eggs, fertilized them with his own and now had the task of bringing up their love child

Keep in mind that Ryan's father died at 60 and he's kept to a strong exercise/fitness regime because of that over the years, not wanting to suffer the same fate. That's something that likely does keep him thinking about his own.
