Paul Ryan looks like a man who is not at all happy.

Recall how absolutely gleeful John Boehner was when he retired. The man looked like he just won the lottery.

In comparison, Ryan looked down and defeated. He didn't seem very happy at all. He also seemed nervous and stressed. We are not hearing the whole story. Maybe he does feel his teenage kids don't know him well enough, but I am not at all convinced that this is the true reason for his retirement. Not for a second.

Of gutting Social Security, Medicare and medicaid. He dreamed of doing that since at least his college days. Now he has to rely on others. Poor Poor Paul

Just as much as what passes for his "heart" bleeds for those he would cut off from essential services.

And overturn all the shit and damage Republicans have done. Democrats will be committed to checks and balances.

This should energize Democrats to take the Senate as well.

I don’t think it’s about his chances in November, I think that most/many of these retiring are about trying to get the targets off their backs.

It also wouldn’t shock me if there weren’t certain unofficial deals in place to avoid prosecution or st least congressional investigations. A “retire or else” sort of thing.

They pull me back in.

Ryan made a deal with the mafia, if he thinks he can just walk away from it he's mistaken. He's not done being useful to them. Do not be surprised if Ryan has a change of heart in the coming weeks. And if he does quit, he's going to still be on the hook to them.

and after a time his evil self will bubble back to the surface and he will run for president....that’s IF he doesn’t go down for something that Mueller has on him. I find it curious that he is making this announcement today - two days after Michael Cohen gets raided. Cohen being tied to the RNC finance committee and all... Surely there are skeletons in that closet regarding Ryan and friends.

Now he's going down in flames, and his political career is in the dumpster, or should I say Trumpster.

He saw this coming, but he sold out to get his tax cuts and the ability to destroy the country.

He might try a comeback some time in the future, but that's a long shot. Not many have been able to pull it off.

We know he is on tape silencing discussion about laundering money from Russia through the RNC. “We’re family.”

Think how much more Mueller knows.

So, whatever well-compensated sinecure he's destined for will put a lot more money in his greasy little hands. But, of course, tax cuts aren't nearly as set in stone as Republicans would like, so there's always the unhappy possibility that Ryan won't get to keep nearly as much of his "earnings" as he wants in the years to come.
