Please stop being so mean to Paul Ryan.

All he wanted was to be US President.

Then John Boehner stepped down and Paul let himself be talked into becoming the new Speaker. And he knew full well that now he will never become President. (No Speaker was ever elected President.)

The Tea Party hated Paul, the Democrats hated Paul, but okay, he could live with that.

And then Trump was elected and Paul was forced to kneel before his overlord.
Before, it had been the Freedom Caucus who sabotaged his negotiations with unrealistic demands. Now, on top of that, Trump was sabotaging him, by flip-flopping on whether or not he supports a bill. Paul was able to get one big bill through Congress, the tax-cut.

Does anybody think that after such a career Paul has any desire for more Tea Party and more MAGA and more sabotage and more butt-kissing?

No, we should be grateful to see Paul retire and wish the Zombie-Eyed Granny-Starver that he gets what he deserves.

I believe that LBJ was once Speaker before he moved to the Senate.

But yeah, not since then. That's why he didn't want the job from the start.

They have a brass plate where his desk was located in Statuary Hall (the old House Chamber) in the US Capitol. It is the only one in the front of the room actually closest to the Speakers Office. It is in front of John Adams who was the President then returned to the House. That is truly nerdy........
