Corker: Tax cuts could be one of worst votes Ive made

Retiring Tennessee Senator Bob Corker (R) said that his vote on the GOP tax law could be one of the worst of his career if estimates that it will add $1.9 trillion to deficits over a decade prove correct.

“If it ends up costing what has been laid out here, it could well be one of the worst votes I’ve made,” he said at a Senate Budget Committee hearing on the Congressional Budget Office estimate that produced the figure.

“I hope that is not the case, I hope there’s other data to assist, whether it’s jobs or growth or whatever,” Corker added.
Corker voted against a version of the GOP tax-cut bill in early December, and was the only Republican senator at the time to cast a “no” vote on the bill.

But he voted for the final bill after a House-Senate conference, joining the rest of his Senate GOP colleagues to support the legislation backed by President Trump.

EDIT

Corker announced on Friday that he would vote for the Senate-House Conference version of the tax cut bonanza, even though it has the same irresponsible deficit impact as the Senate version that he had opposed. Shortly after Corker's announcement, the International Business Times broke a story that the Conference bill had added a provision that would benefit both Corker and Trump, personally. The particular provision in question allows real estate investors to get a special 20% tax rate like other small businesses -- even without paying significant wages to anybody, unlike other businesses. This clearly helps Trump himself, who holds many assets that he simply licenses out to others to run.

While Corker has publicly denied that the addition of this real estate benefit influenced his decision, its presence further underscores the cruelty of this bill -- and the cruel familiarity of the process of generating it. The Republican plan privileges the wealthy -- including the ones with large real estate holdings like the President -- while largely ignoring the forgotten working men and women who voted for Trump. Some low- and middle-income taxpayers may initially get a small benefit from the plan, but all the individual cuts are set to expire by 2025 at the latest, and the largest gains will go to those at the top of the wealth scale.

claiming the CBO was wrong and you were right, and rushing to get it passed before anyone could read it.

You jackasses can't or were unwilling to do your own job and now you want to lecture the private sector on how to do theirs. If Facebook was regulated by Congress they would be up to their eyeballs in debt now rather than profitable. Congress needs to worry about cleaning up their own f*ucked up House rather than lecturing someone employing tens of thousands in high paying jobs in the private sector, using innovative techniques to reach people around the world at no charge to their users. Yes there are some privacy concerns that need to be worked out, but no one is forced to use Facebook. We can't say the same thing about the future taxes we will be subjected to in order to pay down this massive debt.

Now the Tea Party Nazi Party (Koch Bros.) have a silver tray pretense and clear and convincing excuse to go machete austerity program on food stamps, Social Security Retirement, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability payment insurance and any other "entitlement" programs your Fascist Rethug Party so hates.
