Even as a child, I was always an avid reader and took a book with me everywhere I went. My mom would get furious when I brought along a book to read when the family would visit relatives. Nowadays I've traded hardcopy books for a Kindle and it's never out of reach.

I have my mother to blame for that, she was an avid reader, too, who always took me to the library often, and made sure I read books in the summer time when school was out! (not that I minded)

My library is populated with many old and new friends.

Reading broadens the mind, inspires the spirit and frees the imagination. Who wouldn't want to read?

All of my relatives are stone cold Republicans and not a one of them read. Beyond children's picture books and school textbooks, they don't own a single book, a magazine or newspaper subscription. Nothing.

At most, they look at the sales circulars that come in the mail and clip coupons, or occasionally buy some supermarket tabloid that features their current celebrity idol, or has a recipe they can tear out.

As soon as I learned to read, I even read late at night under blankets with a flashlight in order to not keep my sisters awake. I am always reading a book and cannot imagine not reading.

I read almost every book in my middle school library. In high school, my favorite place was the library. In college, I spent Saturday and Sunday at the Engineering library when I was not writing code or running experiments. I read mostly technical books now, not as much general literature.

said that Trump kept a copy of Hitler's speeches (not 'Mein Kampf') on his bedstand.

It makes the damned hair stand up on my back. The guy was an evil, murderous nut, but he WAS a powerful orator.
