Leaving the House will do nothing to stop Mueller if he's interested in him. And I can't imagine him not being interested. That comment about who was getting paid by Putin alone should trigger interest.

counting as "work" all the time they spend outside of congress trying to get re-elected, i.e., schmoozing with constituents, lobbyists, donors; doing local public events, giving interviews, making ads, etc.

in any case it's all time away from family.

certainly a speaker has to have an even tougher workload.

that said, much of that up to the congressperson and how badly they want re-election and how tough it is to get that. they certainly *could* treat it as a very cushy job that allows a ton of family time. they just aren't so likely to get re-elected unless they're a very well-established incumbent in a safe district/state.

cut deep into social programs to make up for it, so he's getting out so he doesn't get blamed.

Right now, he has enough cred to front a think tank or lobbying snakenest for $1M/yr. If he presides over anything to do with taking Trump down, the value of his brand vanishes to the true believers.

even when they live in the same home. What a frickin' tool. Why is it so hard for these idiots to talk to their constituents and get a grip on reality? I know, I know. Just seems so easy to be a good representative, good fund-raiser and good father.
