1) The most obvious one is that Rosenstein did it this way to try to avoid Mueller getting blamed by Trump. With this kind of direct hit against Trump, they had to be concerned about his blowback.

2) If the way they got the warrants were about some other crime specific to that area, then Rosenstein would probably have to refer it to the SDNY. The key is that the Mueller investigation is guaranteed to get evidence that applies to their case.

Perhaps it’s a bit of both. They’re using the SDNY to do the work and provide a bit of cover while asking for the evidence they’re looking for.

Use one event to cover the other. Or one to grab attention while the other trashes the opposition. High risk strategy, one might not be entirely able to control the outcome. But on a more primitive emotional level, the Access Hollywood tape makes Trump sound macho or even enhances his raw charisma to his base, while the email release casts doubt on HRC to everyone who will listen.

So yes, coordination of the two events would not surprise me. Willie Horton ads 1988 sounded like a real loser, but it went straight to prejudice and clinched the deal for Bush. See how these subliminial emotional events play to peoples' lowest emotions?

I believe that was in early August and Wikileaks (or that Gucci guy) did release pages every day for a couple of weeks. Remember, it caused such a problem with the Bernie Bros? They screamed for Wasserman Schultz's resignation, which they got. That all happened before the Billy Bush's Access Hollywood tape hit paydirt.

I don't know this for a fact but it sure looked like Jeb Bush secretly released the pussy tape, in a way that never reflected back to him. But he did have the tape (through his brother Billy) and he also had a huge grudge against Trump. The tape came out about 10 days before the election, maybe the last week of October 2016. Hillary's emails had already been circulated for a couple months by then.

The timing of the Access Hollywood tape was within a day or two of Comey's announcement that he was re-opening the investigation into Hillary's emails. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? No Hillary emails were actually released by Wikileaks then.

These were emails hacked from his gmail account. Yes, there were hacked DNC emails that were released earlier but the Podesta emails were released on Oct 7 - again.. SAME day as the AH tape.
