I like to think The Dick, Dick Cheney is really depressed and crushed right now

He truly worked hard his entire life to make the US the one and only Super power dominating the world with our military might. He probably dreamed of realizing his version of the Thousand year Reich. He was so close he and his family salivated in anticipation. They could almost taste it.

At first he must of thought Trump might be a useful tool and he must have gleefully rubbed his hands at Trump’s generals in the administration. Surely that meant Dicks fantasy of militarily stomping the rest of the world into submission would come to pass! After all Putin was history, right?

Right?

I always thought Cheney was an ass, for sure, but his behavour was usually securely in a foundation of his version of patriotism as along as his company could profit along the way.

Haliburton made a fortune under his presidency, oops, vice presidency, but I dont think there was ONE MINUTE of those 8 years where he gave the Soviets or the KGB (whatever name Putin is using now, fuck him) any slack or didnt consider them our biggest enemy.

I think in private Cheney calls rump all kinds of names.

I want to think that.

But in reality he’s probably sitting around in smug satisfaction.

But I don’t think he’s feeling smug. His lifelong dream can’t happen with Putin gaining power after the Soviet Union collapsed by defying the world and invading countries while everyone sits around quibbling about it and by methodically destroying Democracies from within.

Our loss of prestige in the world and countries alternately laughing at us and moving on without us must be the worst kind of reality for him.

I'm sure that he feels pretty secure and protected right now, so much so that the rest of the world could probably burn and he wouldn't notice/care.

So maybe you’re right. I googled him and he’s out there giving speeches against Putin for interfering, although claiming it didn’t affect the election. He must be hoping Trump’s deplorables hear him. Better a fool Republican than any Democrat, good or bad.

If he had any insight he would have been crushed then, not now. He got the US bogged down in two wars, one totally unnecessary in Iraq which cost thousands or soldiers and trillions of dollars, the other one in a place called "the graveyard of Empires". The military, while still likely the best in the world, has been stretched thin and our weaknesses exposed. Trump is an idiot and is making America look a fool around the world, but he didn't bring America to where it is by himself. The current state of our military is the direct result of Cheney and his ilk trying to be the "world super power" and thinking that it was our right to go into any place we wanted, and thinking that we had unlimited manpower and resources to fight a tactic instead of an actual enemy that was threatening our safety.
