What we're hearing: One source close to leadership told us: "Scuttlebutt is that Paul will have to step down from speakership soon. Members wont follow a lame duck, hell have no leverage to cut deals, and the last thing they need in this environment is 6 months of palace intrigue and everyone stabbing everyone else in the back."
A senior GOP House member predicted this about Ryans future: He will be gone by the end of July.
Its more about certainty and stability. Members need certainty and they dont want to operate until November in a climate where every move from every member of leadership is viewed through the prism of jostling for the speakership.

(10,274 posts)Sounds like the Tea Party caucus is about to go back to war with the party establishment.
But this time, the stakes aren't limited to the speakership, this will be about does the president get impeached by his own party?
Deplorables will say no, and say it publicly.
Establishment types would probably disagree (at least in private).
Whatever, it's their grave let them dig the hole however the hell they want.

This is great!!
The repuke party is in shambles after attaining their fantasy of controlling all three branches of government.
(and would that be GREAT???????)
Didn't quite turn out the way they had envisioned, did it?

(15,326 posts)If anything the russians and the repuglicans/plutocrats have studied up well on how to manipulate the masses.
There are probably more channels of communication and cooperation than even the FBI/NSA/SOC can track. Of course a few leaks in these channels can be damning and jail-worthy.
I don't understand the how, who, and where this coordination is happening. Obviously the WH is a shell of a functional organization. The pResident is confused about election vs. erection. The US government in general is in a lock-down mode.
Someone is calling the shots from a "war room". Is it in the US or abroad? Is it out of NYC, Omaha, Beijing, Moscow? Is it more nebulous? Are the US intelligence agencies part of this? Sounds like a fun thriller - not sure I'll live to see the credits at the end.

(11 posts)This is an important post. Let's not forget that the Speaker is third in line to the presidency. This is an attempt by the Freedom Caucus to have Meadows installed as President, assuming Mueller gets Trump and Pence to resign.

He could. But I'm sure his supreme leader got a loyalty pledge at their meeting yesterday that he wouldn't do anything to hurt the orange troglodyte.

If the Speaker's office somehow fails to quash anything to do with impeachment, you can expect an Irish Exit to the side of whatever loved one looks worst on TV - the Family Health Crisis Gambit!
