Is your understanding that the president is correct in asserting that he has the power to fire the special counsel?
Technically speaking, the president would have to first repeal the regulation that is in place in the Department of Justice [governing Mueller's job]. Now, it is within the president’s power to direct the acting attorney general for this purpose—Rod Rosenstein—to rescind the regulation, and then [Trump] could direct him to fire Mueller.

Rod will either agree to repeal the the regulation so Mueller can be fired or he wont. But I bet that is what the meeting was about.

much more severe for him. It will stop nothing and imo intensify the investigation to indict him on a multitude of charges.

Now of course rump and friends are guilty of many felonies I am sure, and that will come out, as long as something sticks real hard I will be happy.

Is there any chance Rosenstein was there to negotiate an interview and it was clearly a no-go?
