NEW: White House asked if Comey’s book had been cleared by FBI, and were told yes, it was. FBI reviewed it, searching for any classified information or details that could compromise any ongoing investigations. A review is standard for books published by ex-FBI staff, I’m told.

Scoop: The FBI flagged some sections of Comey’s book. Comey and his publisher agreed to all requests the FBI made. The changes were not extensive, I’m told.

An FBI team in West Virginia scoured Comey’s work for potential problems then returned the book to the publisher. No copies floating around FBI offices, I’m told.
