The Rise of the Crisis Actor Conspiracy Movement

In 'The Rise of the Crisis Actor Conspiracy Movement,’ Vice talks to crisis actor conspiracy theorists and the victims they attack. At 19:04 is one of the more disturbing, infuriating scenes.

Not long after the shooting, bloggers and conspiracy theorists baselessly accused survivors of the shooting of being paid actors who were working on behalf of the government and gun control groups to create a fictional event that would allow the government to take guns from the American people.

These crisis actor theories, once reserved to radical fringes of the internet, spread rapidly.
. . .
Just a week after the Parkland shooting, a video accusing one of the survivors of being a paid actor was the #1 trending video on Youtube.

But if Sandy Hook - heartwrenching as it was - didn't make a difference, what did we expect??

They will stoop at nothing to achieve their agenda. Kids...Parkland, Sandy Hook equal nothing more than collateral damage.

Despicable...sad...pathetic.

Because If it was me in his shoes, I'd have put that rabid animal down. No human should have to undergo such attacks.

That couple showed an utter lack of decency or brain power, and when the guy went from the foul-mouthed personal attacks to invoking God in back-to-back sentences, i was almost begging the dad to take him out.

The "murder" of Jesus, blood libels, the Dryfus Affair, The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, the Holocaust, and I could go on and on. People are always looking for conspiracies for things which happen they find amazing, distasteful, or just don't understand. FFS, look at DU and the run to label anyone who doesn't toe the party line must be a Russian Bot! The idea of "crisis actors" is really just a logical, odd word to have to use, progression of the conspiracy theory "defense".

George Orwell wrote in a 1945 essay, Antisemitism in Britain:

To study any subject scientifically one needs a detached attitude, which is obviously harder when one's own interests or emotions are involved. Plenty of people who are quite capable of being objective about sea urchins, say, or the square root of 2, become schizophrenic if they have to think about the sources of their own income. What vitiates nearly all that is written about antisemitism is the assumption in the writer's mind that he himself is immune to it. “Since I know that antisemitism is irrational,” he argues, “it follows that I do not share it.” He thus fails to start his investigation in the one place where he could get hold of some reliable evidence — that is, in his own mind.

The same is true when it comes to a variety of topics, including gun control. It is true; conspiracies exist. Frankly, I think we are living one now with the election of the buffoon in the White House, but not everything is a conspiracy; sometimes, shit is what it is!
