Follow-up to the post about my friend the Democrat from Iowa

https://upload.democraticunderground.com/100210451046
if you missed it

He had a meet-and-greet and mini fundraiser yesterday in northwest Washington at the home of a delightful immigrant from India who must have dove VERY well for himself because the house and location were spectacular. He gave a talk about the local politics in Iowa and what he was up against--and why the seemingly minor office of State auditor was so important in that state. The Republicans are pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into the race to keep the sleazy incumbent in place, too, so it hasn't escaped them how significant this race might end up being. Rob has his eye on Congress down the road, too, and I, for one, would not want to bet against him.

Rob Sand is not on any national mover-shaker's radar, or wasn't so far. On a whim, while I was there, I call up Howard Dean. Howard was busy but called back 20 minutes later. I told him about Rob, and asked if would like to talk to him for a few minutes. Howard said sure, and Rob grabbed my cell phone and distanced himself from the crowd so he could hear what Howard was saying. They ended up talking for nearly HALF AN HOUR, and I know Howard doesn't have a lot of free time these days.

MAYBE nothing will come of all this, but Rob Sand is EXACTLY the guy we need to be recruiting out in so-called "flyover country." I hope we can find a thousand more young men and women like him.
