He threw the election to Chump, and we will pay the price for decades to come. Even if he's removed from office Pence will continue to stack the court, if he's given the chance, in a right wing direction.

Comey absolutely had a major affect.

(7,299 posts)Personalities like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have that rare magnetism to reach through a television screen and touch folks. Most politicians on the highest stage do not have that natural gift.

(3,163 posts)Pointing the index finger in blame, leaves four fingers pointing back at the Democratic Party. We need to look inside the liberal movement itself and examine what we did wrong and what we need to do differently to regain momentum. We are still the party of "against." We still think we will win elections in a landslide simply by pointing out how evil "the other side" and by screaming at the top of our lungs nothing other than "we aren't the other side."
Comey and "Russian meddling in the election" are distractions. What are we for?

(10,168 posts)I have no doubt he deliberately sabotaged Hillary. He can say what he wants, but he's savvy enough to have known the outcome of his actions. That he would have energized the deplorables.
I also cannot imagine that he wanted an ignoramus like Trump elected President! After the debates and campaign, we all knew what Trump was like. Comey probably knew more than we did. So I'm very confused by the whole thing. But I also blame him for the things you mentioned.

(36,926 posts)Again, by rumor, we learned that Comey was under tremendous pressure from the agency to take her down. Comey THOUGHT he was protecting his job by doing so. He did not reveal what he knew about Chump's shenanigans when he put out the bogus attacks on Hillary. That proves his bias, to me at least.

(56,828 posts)that was so pro Trump that it was called Trumplandia. They basically told Comey that unless he re-opened the email investigation they would go public with crazy allegations about Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin and Hillary's emails. Remember, Rudy Giuliani had told the media that a big story on Hillary would be coming out in a day or two. And, if that had happened, the fact that the FBI did not re-open the investigation would reflect badly on the FBI and Comey and also create even worse suspicion about the emails.

(85,996 posts)...but it's also true that Trump expects Democrats to discredit Comey right along with him.
Take a closer look at the news today. Trump's tentative defense of a potential Rosenstein firing is, improbably, that Hillary was wronged in much the way you describe. He's hoping that tidling of a defense provides him some cover.
I think we should have enough presence of mind, and enough temerity in our opposition to Trump, to put the election aside for now and let these republican fight it out. Trump certainly doesn't need or deserve any comfort from us.
