How Did Two Women Become the GOP's Prime 2018 Targets?

WHY DO HILLARY CLINTON AND NANCY PELOSI REMAIN REPUBLICAN’S BIGGEST TARGETS AHEAD OF 2018 MIDTERMS?

BY MARIE SOLIS ON 4/13/18 AT 6:10 AM

As Republicans face the possibility of losing control of the House come November, they've resorted to a well-trodden strategy: lambasting the two most prominent female members of the opposition.

A new study from the Wesleyan Media Project found that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has so far featured in some 7,000 GOP ad spots casting her in a negative light. Her counterpart in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, has only appeared in 1 percent of all Republican ads, and never without an accompanying mention of Pelosi, according to the study. It was more common for a GOP candidate to name-drop Hillary Clinton than Schumer.

Political strategists have diverging views on whether it's sexism that makes Republican candidates vying for competitive seats point to these two women as what's wrong with Washington. But most agree that the specter of Pelosi and Clinton functions as a kind of coded message most GOP viewers can understand right away.

"I think if you got down to it and showed someone a list of Nancy, Hillary and Chuck's policies, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference," Meghan Milloy, the co-founder of Republican Women for Progress and, in 2016, Republican Women for Hillary, told Newsweek. "But it's the sight of these women they've been taught to hate, maybe not even knowing why. I don't think it's an accident."

President Donald Trump shares much of the responsibility for keeping the antagonism toward Clinton thriving, well over a year after the 2016 presidential election. In the first year of his presidency, Trump tweeted about Clinton or referenced her campaign 77 times, according to Newsweek's own January findings. As of July, The Washington Post determined that the president could usually only make it through roughly a third of an interview before mentioning his former presidential opponent.

"The 'Clinton cabal' speaks for itself with Republicans," Tara Setmayer, a former GOP communications director, told Newsweek. "Trump's continued attacks on Clinton have elevated her to a level of bogeyman status with his base."

Since they are slime themselves they have a need to attempt to bring others down to their level... They have nothing good to highlight and desperately need to seem relevant...

they OWN both chambers of the legislative branch, have an orange shitgibbon in the White House and stole a supreme Court seat... have a Confederate Nazi as AG, a coal belching asshole as director of the EPA and are stacking the courts with justices whose qualifications include changing David Vitters dirty diapers.

I guess we'll find out if Democrats and progressives can avoid their normal " Both parties are the same" bullshit and vote the Retrumplicans out.

So, how's that working for them??

I guess we'll see in November

The recent races where they made Nancy the focus they've lost. And despite their ongoing campaign, it's totally possible the House will be restored to the Dems and Harry Enten now says the Senate is within reach.

whatever the fuck the Retrumplicans have been doing over the past 8 years has sure the fuck worked for them.

Maybe I still have PTSD from the past 18 months, but I remember a time when the most qualified person I had ever seen ran against a fucking fascist circus clown... and the clown won.

Yes, every thing seems to be trending in the direction of a massive blue tsunami, but we run the risk of being burned again.

I don't say this lightly, or as hyperbole, but this November is it

Imagine the Retrumplicans emboldened by retaining the majority. This country would be finished.

So, please... it's not simplistic petulance to point out we've seen this story before.

It certainly wasn't because of Nancy Pelosi. There are investigations and indictments happening which will provide the why. James Comey had more to do with that than Pelosi so please don't repeat rw talking points.

to point out they're the fucking majority all over this fucking country??

I think we should be fighting the fuck back in defense of Nancy Pelosi.

Ignoring and dismissing the attacks on her is sure as hell not working.

Yes, if it weren't for Russian bots, Faux News and hate radio, you couldn't find two Retrumplicans to rub together in a rest stop bathroom... but those things do exist, just like the attacks on Pelosi exist.

We ignore them and pretend they aren't effective at the countries peril.

Then you and I have a point of agreement. I've long been furious that we don't stand up for our own, especially the women. Her record of achievement far surpasses that 'young gun' failure Ryan, that tobacconist Boehner, pedophile Hastert and crook Gingrich. She is someone we should be proud of and not afraid to say so. And I don't cap rw because they don't deserve the respect.

She's a strong powerful woman and that intimidates some people. I love Nancy. About the only thing that bothers me is that she doesn't communicate well. She talks like Katherine Hepburn sometimes. I also love Hepburn, but I wouldn't want her as a trial lawyer.

There should be pushback to get the real story of Nancy Pelosi out there.

If you're a Playboy Bunny the Retrumplicans will give you a million dollars and pay for your abortion...as long as you shut up and look "pretty".

If you challenge the boys club, you're a hag and a bitch.

And still...52% of white women voted for Donnie Shit for Brains
