I am now convinced that we are all living in an "alternate reality".

How else can we explain how so many see a pervert in the White House while so many others see the greatest President in their lifetimes?

How can some see the lies and bullshit for what they are and others see someone who "tells it like it is"?

How is it possible that some can so easily see a criminal that has been in business for more than 40 years while many others see a businessman that is good for our economy and our country?

How can some recognize a threat to our democracy but others are oblivious to such ideas?

It is sad and depressing. Facts are meaningless. History means nothing. Perception is reality. If we can convince enough people that our Justice Department is an evil "deep state" and the criminals now in charge are really the ones that are going to save us, which reality do we choose?

A vast majority see Trump for what he is and the smaller percentage that are sticking with his alternate reality are increasingly suspicious of him. If the dozens of conversations I've had with Republicans are any indication, the hallucinating backwaters of America are finally catching up with last year's news.

It's helping, I've noticed, that recent events have REPEATED, and deepened, the vivid (and not abstract) evidence of Trump's abusive treatment of women. (Some Republicans happen to be women and they talk to their male friends). Also the fact that Trump has started a trade war and shot a hole in all of his economic gains is freaking out the wealthier Republicans. There's a little shit pile for each faction.

Blue wave people. Keep encouraging Democrats to vote. If nothing else we can create a new alternate reality... by getting out the vote. I'm planning a huge vote party the weekend BEFORE the vote to motivate my community.

1) Vote party on weekend before election.
2) Blue Wave on Tuesday.
3) Vote Party election night.
4) Party again the following weekend.
5) Assess and clean up confetti. Keep beer stains as a reminder of how we saved the country.

The carrot (i.e. vote party) is always more effective than the stick – ask any marketer – and any teenager.

During the day I watch, read, think, and determine what can possibly be the truth. Hands down deep state loses, as does the republican party as a whole. When their whole being is after nothing but money and power, ordinary citizens be damned, that's wrong now, wrong at any time.

They belong no where near the reins of power..ever.

The propaganda has been going strong for 3 decades now, these people are brainwashed.

Trump and his backers know that you don't need anywhere near of the population on board to claim legitimacy. Trump has about 30% of the people, that's enough for them to move forward with whatever awful plan they have next.

Parallel worlds. I see it on a local level. Not surprised that it reaches all the way to the top.

The big mystery is how we allow ourselves to be indoctrinated to turn a blind eye, because we can't fight against it on a one on one. We don't allow ourselves to speak about it until it reaches a level that the FBI and intelligence agencies decide to expose it, and the press has been allowed to report on it.

But seriously, that other side is rotten to the core. Like a festering wound that will kill the entire organism if we don't clean the wound.

the fact that many Americans are too complacent and lazy to take the act of voting and politics seriously. Too lazy and comfortable to take Jefferson's words seriously that an informed populace is essential for democracy to survive. So lazy that they'll take for granted information that strokes their preconceived notions, instead of doing the hard work of think about what they're told and deciding if it's bullshit on it's merits, not simply because it "sounds good" them. A huge part of the populace would rather watch TV and be told what to think instead of thinking for themselves. Sometimes I wonder if we as a people deserve our form of government. I believe many of our fellow citizens do not.

news networks run by corporations plus GOP TV have tRumps back. They will let the con go unchallenged. If a Dem pres pulled 1/10th of what tRump pulled the fascists would be screaming bloody murder, blocking and destroying that pres, networks would be blasting 24/7. The Dummies who back the turd in chief are brainwashed by a mass propaganda machine that was set up by Reagan and amplified by citizens united. Dems need, must shut Washington down, use every trick in the book, be nasty, do whatever it takes to destroy the fascist party and their leader. Shut the government down, destroy the economy, I don't fucking care how they do, just do it.

produced strangelets that ripped spacetime and bifurcated the, then single, timeline. We see no evidence of this because the this new timeline was generated at precisely the instant the strange matter was produced. In the other timeline, they saw strangelets appear and quickly dissolve, apparently leaving CERN and the rest of the world no worse for the wear.

Throughout 2016, the scientists had been modifying the LHC to push its luminosity in proton-proton collisions. The resultant luminosity topped out at around 1.4 x 1034 cm-2s-1, 40% above the design value of the collider.

As you can see in this graph, these outputs were occurring shortly before the November election.

We can take comfort, however, that in some reality (call it the Prime Timeline) Trump is merely a failed reality TV star who had a brief, failed presidential candidacy.

I figure there are a few theories more plausible than “we not only elected a reality TV host, but we elected a reality TV host who was also Donald Trump”

1. An error was made, but not by us. Soon, the Doctor will arrive and reset the timeline.

1(a). Same as above, but Melania is a Cyberman that’s actually running things.

2. Same as above, but with a Starfleet captain restoring the correct timeline. Personally, I’m hoping for Sisko, because DS9 is underrated.

3. I’ve hit my head and am stuck in permanent fugue state. Coincidentally, this is also the most likely explanation for why I enjoy the Stones’ album “Her Satanic Majesty’s Request” so much.

4. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

5. We have yet to find the correct combination of virgins and volcanoes for sacrifice. I assume that’s what Sherriff Joe Arpaio’s researchers were actually doing in Hawaii — not looking for birth certificates, but angering the same Tiki God that the Brady Bunch did. We merely need to perform the correct human sacrifice.

"... investigations of the phenomenon, such as "Why People Fail to Recognize Their Own Incompetence" (2003), indicate that much incorrect self-assessment of competence derives from the person's ignorance of a given activity's standards of performance. The pattern of overestimation of competence appeared in studies of reading comprehension, of the practice of medicine, of motor-vehicle operation, and of the playing of games such as chess and tennis."

that why I said "and" greed. It's the greedy, racist rich that finance all the racist, misogynistic gop candidates who appeal to the base, feeding them lies about how they (the uninformed/misinformed/gullible) will gain financially and how the evil dems will come for their guns.

Again, I agree with you regarding the base. "Absent racism and sexism, very few people would support right wing economic policy."

How can we combat that? They're going to die out sooner or later.
