nothing is going on. The emperor is stark naked and no one mentions it. Call me naive. I feel as if I am in the midst of a psychological experiment. I keep lookimg around for the camera.

When it's all done, historians will look back and ask "how could this have happened?" They will draw conclusions about voter psychology, propaganda and the dynamics of power under authoritarian populist presidents.

7. Because the rule of law doesn't apply to him

That's why he thinks he can fire him now, and nothing can be done to him for it. Making him have absolute power, and above the rule of law, so no matter what crimes he's found to have committed, or involved in, or his family or friends, they are all above being held accountable for anything they've done, or are doing. If people want someone like that, or anyone who doesn't have to abide by laws, and let them rule however they want to against others than here's your chance. I can't believe anyone would ever want this, and especially from someone as vile and dangerous as a trump. Guilty people abuse their powers to obstruct being held accountable, and to escape justice. Crooks always look for ways out of trouble and this guys an expert at it.

mere attempts at impeachment...more to lose, even, than successful impeachment.

The impeachment process gets the GOP character rehabilitation and at worst, Pence for president. Who pardons everyone in sight. They have very, very few pathways out of this and impeachment might be the least worst option. Doesn't preclude later prosecution, but it puts off by years a legal reckoning of some sort.

We are talking about trillions of dollars for both domestic and foreign oligarchs at stake. They will not let this remain in the hands of our puny mid term elections. Something will be done.

He doesn't know what the fuck he's doing, and will exercise any option to delay a reckoning.
