My crazy theory on Paul Ryan

I believe he is not seek re-election for two reasons The first reason is obvious and totally entwined with the second reason (1) the polls show his re-election is not going to be the usual cake walk and he can't take the chance of being disgraced. (2) Ryan knows that Trump is going down and so does Mike Pence. Pence and Ryan have a secret understanding/deal. If Trump goes down Pence will choose Ryan for his VP and they can work together to rid the country of all entitlements. If Trump doesn't go down until after the November election and Ryan loses his seat then the deal is off. Pence will not choose an embarrassed and disgraced former Speaker of the House for VP. Paul Ryan could not risk losing his house seat. He had no choice but to resign.

I know my theory is a little crazy but so is everything else these days so I thought I would throw it out there.

Under Section 2, whenever there is a vacancy in the office of Vice President, the President nominates a successor who becomes Vice President if confirmed by a majority vote of both Houses of the Congress.

From the 25th Amendment:

Section 2.

Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Remember the tape that was released shortly after the election? The "that's how we know we're a family" tape? Ryan was running that meeting.

Ryan negotiated a deal with Kislyak to bring Russian money for laundering into the 2016 campaigns. He was recorded by the USIC doing so. Two conversations were recorded. The GOP leadership is very likely under a RICO investigation. Several GOPers received Russian money, filtered through their PACs. When stuff doesn't look kosher and it can't be explained through normal channels, rely on the "Protection Theory": someone's trying to protect him/herself from danger, loss, or accountability. In this case, Ryan is trying to protect himself from prosecution. He's getting out and distancing himself from the legal explosions that most people see coming.

I wonder if one of his kids started spouting Trumpian languagetalking points? I suspect he's a white guy who considered himself not racist but fell in line. I remember an interview soon after the 2008 election. where he said he thought it was "cool" that we elected a black president, but that he mostly disagreed with him on policy. He's the guy who represents the crowd who see themselves as color blind or even anti-racist, but still laugh at racially bigoted jokes. He may also have reached his limit when it comes to the misognyny.
To be a fly on the wall when these men try to explain their non-response to their mothers, wives, and daughters.

Or that he wants to help elect a Democratic majority. He likely wants to have some kind of professional future he doesn't want to screw up by alienating republican benefactors. He's not a guy who will confronted the joke tellers, but he may be uncomfortable enough to leave the room.
I don't see anything he does, short of direct opposition to everything he has stood for as a republican, as a sign of integrity. Just surrendering to a hint of guilt and cultural norms.

so that during the inevitable downfall, he can swoop and save the GOP. Pence will rid this land of LGBT and Ryan will kill off our elderly.

Then they'll celebrate with more tax cuts.

Pence is going down too. He was in charge of the transition team when most of the criminality happened. He was a part of many meetings and is in as much trouble as Flynn, if not more. He will be arrested at some point- after T.rump has been neutralized so he cannot pardon him.

the Dem's are not going to go along with a bullshit transition that allows Pence to become POTUS. The Dem's are waiting to take over the House and starting non-stop investigation WITH impeachment powers to shut down anything passing.

My guess is he's prepping to run Senate or President. He will have served long enough as speaker that his retirement will be based on that income. In the meantime, he can bank megabucks working as a lobbyist.
