It was probably audience-tested by Breitbart and Cambridge Analytica for how it pisses off Dems and makes Reps chuckle.

We should do the same, it has a jarring effect and also smacks of imperial overreach.

My 77 year old Dad, who has voted solid Dem all his life uses the same term. Drive me nuts.

I'm sure that Sarah does this intentionally though to annoy us. And it works.

The usage was invented (by Gingrich?) to irk Dems and for no other reason. It gets under our skin, like fingernails on a grammatical chalkboard. Ignore it.

It does serve one useful purpose: to identify newbies posting here who may have taken a wrong turn somewhere on their way to a RW discussion board.

Especially when pronounced so that the "con" part is emphasized.

Better yet, we can use both and really confuse them. They've only got their one little trick specifically designed to annoy us. Now we have two to annoy them with.

The right-wing has been using it for at least 20 years at this point. It's just another juvenile attempt to needle people for no reason.
