So...Trump Wants To Relitigate The Scooter Libby/ Valerie Plame Disgrace? BRING IT!

Trump wants to bring THAT up again? FINE! Let's TALK about that for a week or so. Here's what happened...

Joe Wilson (a Republican who worked for Bush Sr.) published an Op/Ed that cast doubt on Bush Jr.s 'justification' for invading Iraq in 2003. Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Richard Armitage, and Scooter Libby retaliated by outing Joe Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, who was an undercover CIA agent. This not only ended Plame's career and usefulness as a CIA spy, but it also exposed everybody who was an associate of hers as a potential CIA collaborator, and probably got a few of them KILLED. Libby was the only one who suffered a penalty for that treason.

And here's what it proves...

This proved the following about modern Republican politicians:
-They put PARTY ABOVE COUNTRY
-They even put PARTY ABOVE NATIONAL SECURITY
-They don't care which non-partisan government organization they throw under the bus to maintain political advantage.
-They are not above ATTACKING SOMEBODY'S WIFE and FAMILY to achieve political advantage.
-They are not above getting people killed to achieve political advantage.
Once one of their own has committed such treason, they'll do everything they can to make sure he/she is never punished for it, because it was in the service of the Party. Politics trumps law, order, and justice.

You want to bring all that up again? Fine.

For Trump it's always either about distraction or personal advantage (see distraction).

Somebody like Sean Hannity suggested it to him, and he agreed to it because it might be a good distraction. But he had no idea about the ramifications beyond that.

All the other Trump associates who rolled on Trump are worried about prison. Manafort, alone, is (justifiably) worried about getting WHACKED by Putin. If Mueller has brains (and we know he does), right about now would be a good time to offer Manafort a plea deal, as well as entry into the witness protection program.

i used to tell the story the same way until the light bulb went "ding!" -- save it for the end:

now i just say that cheney and his gang deliberately and knowingly blew the cover of an cia agent, in the process destroying a years-long operation tracking international proliferation of nuclear weapons and materials. key informations most likely got killed and out intelligence efforts in this vital area were severely compromised.

and then i add -- and do you know what their feeble excuse was? they wanted to be mean to the cia agent to settle some kind of personal/political score with the cia agent's *husband*.

yup, that was their excuse for dealing a severe blow to our national security.

this is nothing more than an attempt to whitewash crooked, unpatriotic Republican actions of the past. The attempt to create a squeaky clean slate of Republican actions against their own CIA personnel.....so that Trumps actions against the FBI doesn't count in the aggregate.

I'm wondering who came up with this idea. We all know that Trump wouldn't even know who Scooter Libby IS unless somebody told him. My money is on either Sean Hannity or John 'Captain Kangaroo' Bolton.

about as smart as a mammal can get. Raccoons did not come up with this idea either. The tRUMP is hearing voices...that's who is advising him. Or maybe Hannity, Roger Stone, Lou Dobbs or other efFox news idiots.

Wonder where Ivanka and Jared are these days? Not a peep out of them for quite awhile.

Just because the guy's head LOOKS like a suppository doesn't mean he has to shove it so far up Trump's ass every day.

Every time Hannity does something particularly obnoxious, I just have to replay this clip of him being chased and taunted by Ron Paul supporters.

I see no reason why, when the Blue Wave has washed away Republican control of Congress, the Democrats shouldn't reopen investigations into Bush, 9/11, Plame, etc. Just to let em know we're tired of their fuckin' with us for purely partisan reasons.

I know, I know. We're better than that.

Apr 2018

I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson at a Democratic Party luncheon in Santa Barbara, CA when Valerie was the featured speaker. Valerie was doing a book tour for the release of Fair Game. She read excerpts from the book and then did a Q&A. I purchased a copy which she signed. After lunch about 1/2 dozen of us chatted with Joe Wilson while Valerie was signing her book for attendees. Joe was very engaging, friendly, circumspect and credible.

My attitude is "please proceed" tRump and GOP. Pardoning Scooter Libby can/should create a huge backfire that further exposes the history of treasonous actions by Bush, Cheney and the Republican Party.
