Just seen on rawstory.com (https://www.rawstory.com/2018/04/ordered-court-grants-trump-request-intervene-michael-cohen-case/) , this is from a Wall Street Journal reporter:
A federal judge in Manhattan granted President Donald Trumps request to intervene in the court hearing regarding longtime attorney Michael Cohen, whose offices were raided on Monday.
Erica Orden, a political reporter for The Wall Street Journal broke the news via Twitter on Friday.
The Court GRANTS the application of President Trump to intervene in this proceeding. SO ORDERED, she tweeted.

this is the biggest case in history, probably, so I dont know what that means or how it helps him...
He is admitting that he was a party to the NDA, right?

(6,114 posts)The statements in the court documents aren't quite that clear and definitive, but are really close.

(32,012 posts)My god, they authorized the raid. Prosecutors will argue a broken pencil is part of it. The fact the judge granted Trump's motion meant he was not buying what they are trying to sell.

(6,114 posts)It was an ordinary procedural matter, granted on that limited basis. It gives Trump legal standing roughly equivalent to Stormy. No big deal.

(32,012 posts)I will say the position of the SDNY is "No big deal". We will see what develops.

(3,363 posts)a clear answer of whether he actually does any real legal work, she's demanding Cohen appear Monday to answer those questions himself.
The Judge isn't buying the arguments from Cohen's lawyers.

(108,978 posts)For example, that there were "thousands" of documents protected by attorney-client privilege, even though Cohen's attorney couldn't name any clients. The judge said that on Monday the attorney has to bring Cohen with him.
All that the judge is saying now is that she will allow Trump's lawyer to "intervene" -- to have a voice in the argument. It would be surprising if she didn't.

(108,978 posts)very little legal work. And in Court, his lawyer wasn't able to name a single client.

(62,444 posts)First off, this is about much more than the NDA.
Secondly, anyone whose attorney's records has been seized pursuant to a warrant has the right to intervene and assert privilege with respect to any records which qualify for that assertion.
This ruling is a no brainer.

(1 post)I understood that US Attorney has something like a 3rd pty going thru all info gathered to separate out anything that could be Client Privilege. ? There's a legal word for this, but I don't know it.
Cohen is being looked at for business, nothing involving 45???
pnwmom
(108,978 posts)But Cohen/DT are saying that isn't good enough. They don't trust the FBI to do the sorting and they want either Cohen to do it, or for the judge to appoint someone else.
The FBI says that their taint team is normal procedure and there's no reason not to follow normal procedure.
Welcome to DU, JWhit63!
