I think 32 percent is probably his soft base. 25 percent would be his hard base.

The 32-42% I would view as his soft base and a portion of them are poachable for the Democrats with a number of them voting for Trump even though they didn't like him.
"Poachable" in the sense that they would more likely not vote at all rather than support the Democratic candidate.

The thing is that this hard Trump base is not going anywhere and after-Trump they will be more hard and entrenched in their position, their paranoia, xenophobia, and racism along with their worship of the Second Amendment. Unless the Left is vigilant they will be back and worse than ever.

I take some comfort in knowing a disproportionate percentage are 45 or older, but that 1/3rd or so of the population will be with us for a long time to come.
