Americans love war as long as they don't have any skin in the game.

As long as there is no chance whatsoever that war will find its way to our shores...

As long as there is no chance that 'American lives' will be lost...

As long as they don't have to look at pictures of dead civilians that are the result of "collateral damage"...

As long as we can convince ourselves that we had no other choice... even though the current administration doesn't practice diplomacy.

As long as we can believe that we are on high moral ground, and that these things are black and white...

Once I took a very small whiff of a container which was not marked clearly to find out what was in it, and it had chlorine fluid in there, and it burned my breathing passages awful. I can't even imagine the horror of children gassed with chlorine gas. As much as I hate wars, I wish the 3 allies had missiles aimed at Assad's residence. Probably he has a dozen hiding places as all brutal dictators do. Saddam was hiding for several months in various places too.

Her two oldest sons went ashore at Normandy. During the height of the Vietnam Conflict, I recall her burying her face into her hands and sobbing, "who's sons are going to die today?"

Both my uncles (and my dad) made it home from WW2, but she had friends whose sons didn't...

But they both saw many comrades die, and saw horrible things that stayed with them all of their years. There is such a huge cost to all involved.

As a Vietnam vet I feel the “support the troops” and “thank you for your service” is sometimes misplaced because none of our wars after WWII were about protecting our freedom.

It’s like a big conspiracy to lie to ourselves.

damage (a vile term thought up by top brass). They think as long as they wave their flag and say how much they love the military it makes them innocent.
