Comey isn't a distraction at all, although the Trumpsters have already started trying to discredit him - but there's not much they can do about Cohen. The main point of Comey's book is that Trump is a moral slagheap who isn't fit to be president. What's being revealed about Cohen is that he's the fixer and enabler of dodgy deals for a moral slagheap who isn't fit to be president. There are no distractions, it's all related.

Trump isn't using Comey, FFS! Comey is trashing Trump for the same reason that Cohen is in trouble: because Trump is a dirtbag. Comey is just adding more dirt to the already huge pile of dirt on Trump. Why on God's green earth could you possibly think Trump is using him as a distraction??

I think you could say that Comey has you distracted but I highly doubt that the people Trump really has to worry about are now chasing shiny objects.

He may be hoisting himself on his own petard, but it is very difficult for me to respect him at this point. He broke my political heart.

Comey will never live down what he did to Hillary Clinton. That will follow him for the rest of his life. It probably haunts his dreams. He would have a job today had he not made the choices he did. His FAMILY voted for Clinton. His wife; his daughters. I can't imagine what members of his own family must think of the decisions he made, but I'm sure they have let him know.

He deserves derision for what he did.

However, what he did to Clinton does not take away from what he is doing now.

Now, in this moment, he is doing a good thing. He is exposing Trump and explaining, in detail, what kind of a danger we are in. He is a former FBI director who is giving the American people a message they need to hear. Donald Trump is unfit to be President. Donald Trump should never have been elected.

We are all smart enough to hold two consecutive thoughts. Comey did wrong by Clinton but now Comey is doing something right. You don't have to forgive him in order to agree with him on this particular point. We should be using our voices to help to amplify this particular point because he is right on this specific issue.
