The fall of trump does not solely depend on Comey.
We do not need him and his fractuered moral high ground.
His interview last night was very strange.

(8,275 posts)your opinion of his interview last night?
Do you think his remarks about trumps appearance were necessary?

(3,608 posts)another post about his appearance...LOL.
I thought the interview was 70% positive. I do think he made some wrong decisions what I believe he thinks were for the right reasons.
I would of *preferred* that he said yeah I fucked that up and I shouldn't of done it..but I'm not writing the script. I have researched his life and he is a good person. There is no comparison between he and RUMP. Comey's worst day is better than RUMP's best...the end.

(8,275 posts)only serves to give trump supporters somethng to crow about....
And dragging his wife out to say she was a Hillary supporter was supposed to be damage control?
Kirk Lover
(3,608 posts)we've heard about Hillarys appearance and health etc...RUMP followers have no credibility and they will always be crowing about something anyway...when they don't have anything they just make shit up.
He actually said a few nice things about RUMP. His hair was perfect, his hands were not small and he thinks he has above average intelligence.
I think they brought out the wife to show him as a family man...they told some of his backstory. And the truth is she supported Hillary. The interview we can at least say was honest...warts and all. But I'm not sure about the whole motive of bringing the wife on...I understand it was a 5 hour interview in total and they only aired the hour.

(155 posts)And as such he has the right to voice his opinion of the President just as we here at DU do everyday. He was uncomplimentary, but not vulgar and I would bet that 99% of the people who use this site would agree with his observations.
Trumps' first response to an attack is to counter punch, and if there is no response Trump assumes that the target is weak and Trump intensifies the attack. Comey is free now to respond in kind. Seems like the media has a double standard- calling out Comey for not taking the high ground, but yet giving Trump free rein as a candidate and President to attack and demean people. That's so commonplace now, that people just shake their heads, and say, "That's just Trump, being Trump."
I watched the interview and I don't think Comey was out of line in his observations. It was part of the narrative. When he was meeting Trump for the first time face to face, he was comparing reality to his own preconceived expectations. We all do that. In reference to Trump's intelligence I think Comey was referring to Trump's "street smarts', not book learning. Trump wouldn't be where he is today if he wasn't able to read people and appeal to their frustrations, fears and petty vanities.
The attacks by Trump and his administration are not only against Comey, but Robert Mueller and the Special Counsel's Office, the FBI as an institution, and the whole justice system itself. Democrats need to stand together with a unified message (for once!) and remember UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL.

(7,505 posts)getting fired because you did your job personally. You're damn right it was personal. I don't find it even a little strange. People who are wrongfully fired then lied about do take it personally. It happened to me and it was real personal.

Has anyone, anywhere suggested that the fall of Trump depends solely on Comey?

(3,344 posts)You realize he is a primary witness to the obstruction charges right? And this is why Trump went after him AND all of the people Comey told Trump's actions about.

(8,275 posts)Remember during the time Comey was head of the FBI Trump iwas caught on video with the Ruskies in the Oval chuckling that the pressure off, and of course the famous Lester Holt interview.
You do understand that trumps attorneys will grill Comey over what he says about trump in his book?

(102,283 posts)What Comey said in the interview (and apparently in the book from those who have discussed it AFTER reading it) is very consistent.
Your concern is noted though.

(102,283 posts)investigation was initiated with Comey's firing in the midst of a Comey-led investigation into Trump. So, to say Comey has NOTHING to do with what happens to Trump, is just wrong. It now falls to Mueller's team and SDNY and ultimately how well Mueller has protected the longevity of the invesigation against Trump's manipulations. Comey's part is basically done, but certainly not irrelevant.

What we are seeing is a continuation of the narrative that is already proving to have positive results at the ballot box. Who can be against that?

(2,078 posts)Now WHY the OP would desire this to ease their mind is another question.
It sure isn't to help bring Trump down, because they would conceivably want the OPPOSITE.

(6,280 posts)... when there are a multitude of things and people who this investigation does not depend upon solely? I can't see any purpose in the OP except to minimize Comey's involvement in the investigation, and to attack his character befitting an early morning tweet.
