Top Republican ADMITS Trump Won Wisconsin by Keeping Democrats From Voting

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/04/top-republican-official-says-trump-won-wisconsin-because-of-voter-id-law/

Election officials and Democrats in Wisconsin have repeatedly argued that the state’s strict voter ID law allowed Donald Trump to win the state in 2016 by keeping thousands of voters—predominantly in Democratic-leaning areas—from the polls. Now a top Republican official in the state is saying the same thing.

“We battled to get voter ID on the ballot for the November ’16 election,” Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel, who defended the law in court, told conservative radio host Vicki McKenna on April 12. “How many of your listeners really honestly are sure that Sen. [Ron] Johnson was going to win reelection or President Trump was going to win Wisconsin if we didn’t have voter ID to keep Wisconsin’s elections clean and honest and have integrity?”

The law, which went into effect in 2016, required specific forms of government-issued photo identification to vote. In a cover story last year, Mother Jones reported that the law kept tens of thousands of eligible voters from the polls and likely tipped the state to Trump. A federal court found in 2014 that 9 percent of registered voters in Wisconsin did not possess the identification necessary to vote. In a University of Wisconsin study published in September 2017, 1 in 10 registered voters in Milwaukee County and Madison’s Dane County who did not cast a ballot in 2016 cited the voter ID law as a reason why. That meant that up to 23,000 voters in the two heavily Democratic counties—and as many as 45,000 voters statewide—didn’t vote because of the voter ID law. Trump won the state by 22,000 votes.

African Americans, who favored Hillary Clinton over Trump by an 88-to-8 margin, were three times as likely as whites to say they were deterred from voting by the law.

Indeed, turnout fell most sharply in black neighborhoods of Milwaukee that heavily supported Clinton. Nearly 41,000 fewer people in the city—where Clinton received 77 percent of the vote to Trump’s 18—voted in 2016 than in 2012.

no rationale reason (made up stories of fraud) and start knocking on doors (especially in urban areas) and get the voters valid IDs. Might be worth it instead of paying for another ad knocking tRUMP (we already know about tRUMP's massive failures)...

mother, born in a barn in the country, don't have reliable birth certificates in their possession. They might have to write for them to some state that doesn't want to acknowledge their births. There are lots of problems with those birth certificate laws. I think you have to pay to get a duplicate birth certificate if yours is missing or lost.

If you lose your birth certificate you have to get a replacement from the county where you wereborn. Average i have paid is $30. Not a huge amount but could be a hardship for a low income person.
It is all absurd anyhow. If my iPhone knows who i am, surely the same digital recognition software could be used to register voters without resorting to19thcentury bothersome trivia like burth certificates.

were rigged. There were enough spoiled ballots in Michigan to have turned the state for Hillary. Trump barely won the electoral college by rigged states and cheating.

The only candidate that was actually the target of a 'rigged' campaign & election was Hillary Clinton.
Yet she was The Only one who refused to stoop low enough to use "rigged" to garner pity & votes.

https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/news/2017/01/23/russians-suspected-hacking-local-dems/96965824/

What appears to have been Russian hackers compromised the website of the 8th Congressional District Democratic Party as well as the sites of seven county Democratic party organizations, said Mary Ginnebaugh, who chairs the congressional district as well as the Brown County Democratic parties.

Russian hackers have been accused on the national level with interfering with the U.S. presidential election by getting into the Democratic National Committee’s website as well as that of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington.

While no one can prove beyond doubt that Russians also were involved in the local hack job, two hackers left “calling cards” with Russian email addresses on the local websites in an apparent gesture of contempt or braggadocio, Ginnebaugh said. Green Bay police were notified and have forwarded information to the FBI, she said.

mckenna's on limbaugh station WIBA, in madison, which needs the u of WIS to keep broadcasting sports on the station to help it bring in advertisers......

walker's used talk radio for a decade, his first email batch showed it. those stations sell voter suppression all the time - id laws, voter fraud fraud, anti immigration and racism to sell suppression, etc

WIBA would have to go to other programing if UW reread it's mission statement and started looking for apolitical alts

all students have to do is get the school to dump WIBA annd the other 4 limbaugh stations - and 2 hannity stations

at $1000/hr x 15 hrs/day x 1200 stations that's $18M/day, $5Bil/year, all subsidized by advertisers.....

and those advertisers need to start getting asked if they really want to support trump - because that's what every advertiser on rw talk radio is doing.

there should be a way to fund an organization that helps anybody who needs to get an ID to vote to get one no matter if it's getting a birth certificate or just a ride to the DMV--just do it. And that in no way precludes fighting it in court as well. But get them the ID so they can vote.

But here in Wisconsin as far as voter ID is concerned, elections have consequences because in 2010 the state of Wisconsin was totally controlled by the Democrats. In the midterms that year, and here our governor is always elected in a midterm election, Scott Walker won and he received 90% of the vote that John McCain got here in 2008 and his Democratic opponent, Tom Barrett only received 65% of the vote that went to Barack Obama who easily won the state.
On top of that, the Republicans took total control of the state government and since 2010 was a census year they proceeded to gerrymander the state when they took power and then they also passed a voter ID law to additionally help them retain their power. The Left did not turn out and vote in that election but the Republicans did.
