Now they've proven they don't need us all that much for their plantations. Things can be made overseas at much lower cost and no pesky enviromental regulation. The people overseas have shown they will pick through dumps of bad food, electronic waste, sewerage and all other kinds of shit we in America wouldn't even think of touching.
They control the jobs, with the electronic monitoring we all have following us, they can weed out the "insurrectionists" among us, killing our chances of staying alive. Hell, taking it a step into conspiracy theory, they can kill your credit or your bank account. Fuck us around for 3 months and we're done.
Meanwhile the race to be the first trillionaire is on. Billions ain't shit anymore. Just look at the owner of an information gathering company we all know. Think he's worried about his rent check clearing or his kids if he had any, going without a meal?
