Too Bad About Barbara Bush. Yet She Was Mother To Most Damaging Politicians In US History.

The Bush legacy will be a negative one. Barbara's family has NOT been a positive experience for the US. Sure there will be apologists for what the Bushes did to this country because it benefitted them at the expense of millions of Americans. Barbara will likely be clueless to the end. She has such a superiority complex over others less fortunate.

I personally will not mourn her passing. Sorry for her health failing. She has lived a long an privileged life few have enjoyed.

I remember what it was like for my niece and nephews when my Mom died. For any of her shortcomings as a mother, she was a truly amazing grandmother and they have nothing but beautiful, fond memories of her. I saw young Barbara being interviewed, today, and it was heartbreaking because I can already see the pain of loss on her face.

and Barbara Bush referred to Ferraro as that woman whose name rhymed with witch. Lost what little respect I had for her then.

She was a product of her time and social standing, which probably limited her a great deal - having to "find" any fulfilling work through her husband rather than through her own talents. She wasn't stupid, she was born to be a society wife, at best a "social" mover and shaker subservient to the males in her life, rather than an intellectual or an artist who could act on her own.
She would never be allowed to just be "Barbara" and live out her potential the way she wanted to as her brothers could.

If she was born in a more modern period, she might have been more like Hillary Clinton, right wing or left wing, dependent on her personal political leanings. But - being a daughter of the Gilded Age, she would be a good businessman's or politician's wife, with her personal abilities and sensibilities constrained and for the most part, her voice muted or controlled by what would be acceptable for a woman in her position.

I remember some of her remarks about poorer less prosperous people. How you treat others is important. Today I stopped at a 7-11 looking for a Sunday paper in Vegas. A young black man wanted to wash our windows. My wife suggested we let him do it and I agreed even though the windows were clean enough. We gave him some money for his efforts.

Personally we try to give people on the side of the road something when we can. See so many homeless around on intersections. Something is dreadfully wrong with US.
