Hannity didnt cross my mind as mystery client #3. Should have, but didnt.
It was almost too much schadenfreude for one day.
Oh what a glorious day this Monday has been!!

(17,863 posts)It would have been rejected as being ridiculously improbable.
Depending on how this plays out (just a transient disaster or systemic institutional illness and death), I wonder what history books are going to be saying about it in 20 years.

(58,785 posts)I strongly suspect political junkies across the spectrum have become addicted to constant stimulation.
I hope the thicker history books will merely detail a period of cantankerous withdrawal, making this whole period turn out to be a rough spot in a very long peace. This rough spot itself is going to fill virtual libraries, though. Will it be referred to using Trump's name or named after the new billionaire and centimillionaire classes who are the real sociopolitical phenomenon?

(58,785 posts)would turn out to be diagnosable sociopaths. What kind of people set out to dismantle the systems many of the people of a nation of 320 million literally depend on for their lives, plus a couple hundred million want and need for their and their loved ones' continued wellbeing?

(6,045 posts)From two perspectives...One, as you mentioned, as a political junkie & the extreme bordem that might overtake everyone for a while as things begin to settle back down.
OR...The potential of the news media to come at the next Democrat in office in an overly aggressive manner covering everything as if it is a scandal just to look even handed & fair. Regardless, we must choose our candidates carefully not to give the media or the Right anything to bite on. IMHO.

(6,045 posts)It was infuriating! But thankfully Obama was who he is!
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)" not to give the media or the Right anything to bite on," we've done that all along. We're the Democratic Party. Since liberals have been ascendant, we've never nominated a corrupt candidate.
If you insert "valid" before anything, that includes Hillary Clinton. She is by far the most scrutinized and investigated politician in our nation, perhaps on the planet, with all lies disproven, and is also held to a standard created just for her above all others. She was also superbly prepared to be president, far more than most this nation has ever had.
Which is why I sigh at the notion that we mustn't "give them anything." The only way that would make a difference would be if we refused to give them a Democratic candidate.
Political scientists know partisan attitudes are created by the leaders and provided to followers who've joined their groups, who adopt them because that's what people "like them" believe. Such as the election-theft stories put out about the Democrats in the primary. Or such as the differences between how Bill Clinton's serious zipper problem and enjoyment of women's company was portrayed versus Trump's genuine sexual predation.
No matter who we run in 2020, their leaders will invest hundreds of millions of dollars in character assassination. And those on OUR side whose personal weaknesses make them vulnerable to even outrageously obvious slanders, will also believe them. Again.
Obama got something of a pass because in the primary he was talked up by both sides AND most media to take out Hillary. And after, Republicans couldn't use any of the usual lies against male Democrats because they all sounded intensely racist applied to a black man. Just imagine Bill's rape, murder and drug conspiracies applied to Obama, or the gratuitous little going-away gift of the Clintons vandalizing the WH.
But somehow I don't think running a black man would work as well a second time. Much of what has happened in conservative politics since is a professionally amplified reaction to that enormous advance (and the imposition of gay marriage by judicial fiat on states that weren't ready to pass it themselves).

A judge demanded Cohen's team reveal the name of the client, an audible gasp went out in the courtroom when Sean Hannity's name was announced, CBS News' Jeff Pegues reports. What happens if Hannity was in trouble with Russia and Cohen smoothed it over for him?
It would be a win/win for Russia and Trump to have a mouthpiece like Hannity at their beck and call.
It really, really is imperative to find out what Cohen did for Hannity.
Fox needs to deal with this.

(6,916 posts)The third client is Sean Hannity.
Fox is the single biggest danger to america. Bigger even than the president. For without Foxs propaganda, the president would be impeached by now. Foxs propaganda ties the GOP base to the president. Which is what keeps the GOP Congress from acting.
If there is a war and many people die, the fault with lie with Fox and Murdoch. And Hannity and Carlson are complicit.
