Ryan: No way to avoid trillion-dollar deficits because of all the old people

Ryan: No way to avoid trillion-dollar deficits because of all the old people

Speaker Paul Ryan wants you to know that it is not his fault at all that we're going to have a trillion-dollar deficit. It's the fault of old people. Because of course it is. It's Paul Ryan.

"That was going to happen. The baby boomers retiring was going to do that," Ryan said on NBC's "Meet the Press" of projections that the country will start running trillion-dollar deficits as soon as 2020. […]

"These deficit trillion-dollar projections have been out there for a long, long time. Why? Because of mandatory spending which we call entitlements," he said when pressed by NBC host Chuck Todd on Corker's criticism.

Ryan, a former House Budget Committee chairman, said the Congressional Budget Office projects discretionary spending to increase by only $300 billion over the next decade and for total tax revenues to continue to increase.

"Mandatory spending which is entitlements, that goes to $2 trillion over the next decade. Why does it go to $2 trillion? Because the boomer generation is retiring," Ryan said.

Those pesky retirees, expecting to get all that money they spent into the Social Security and Medicare system back when they need it. They're going to break us! And there's nothing to be done about it. Nope, no way you can do anything to raise any money to counter all those people getting older.

Never mind giving the banksters and the corporations and the 1 percent $2 trillion in tax cuts. It's as if taxes have nothing at all to do with the government's revenues.

Raygun changed the Social Security rules and the baby boomers double paid. They paid for their parents retirement And their own retirement. The baby boomer retirement money is the trillions in the Social Security trust fund. That money will draw down as the baby boomers use it to retire.

Medicare and Medicaid have problems because our meical system is so over priced and inefficient. The whole medical system needs to be fixed before Medicare and Medicaid will improve. But remeber this: No One gets any Medicare benefits if someone has not paid in. You get Medicare because you paid your taxes into it. A child with a disability gets Medicare because their parents paid in. Medicare is Not free to anyone.

We have no right to receive Social Security benefits or to have any of the tax we paid refunded. There's nothing in the Constitution or the law to stop sociopaths like Ryan from cutting us off. The only thing that prevents them from doing it is political pressure.

Is news people allow him to get away with the lies. People get SS and Medicare because they paid for those benefits over 3 decades or more. Paul Ryan wants the government to steal their money. Why don't Paul Ryan give up the Congressional retirement money that he will start drawing for life next year? Afterall, he is worth $2 million and his wife is worth another $6 million.

I am ok with wealthy people chosing to forego SS and Medicare benefits because they do not need the money, but even that should be voluntary.

I frequently listen to NPR and when News comes on, they broadcast snippets from Trump -- who inevitably is spouting something which is verifiably UNTRUE. NPR just leaves it standing there, which makes it appear that Trump's lie is fact. That is not responsible journalism, IMHO. I note that when I listen to CBC and a politician's recorded statement is broadcast, it's always prefaced, or followed up with, the facts -- which have been noted and verified.

Republicans have been masters at distortion. The word "entitlement" has been distorted to mean that only the "elites" (another distorted word) think they are owed SS and Medicare etc. And the plebes who vote for them have been brainwashed enough to believe everything they are spoon-fed.

There is no reason we should not be producing 40-50% of what we consume. We don't even make the clothes we wear, or the shoes on our feet.

We love cell technology, but won't build phones in America.. but they are sold here for a high prices AS IF they were produced by American labor.

No one should upgrade their phones, until the brand makers, produces 50% of their products in America.
Keep the one you got for the next 2 yrs... I bet we'd see quickly Apple and Others, building Phones in America....and they'd do it in record time.

If people decided not to buy Nike for the next year.. we'd see Nike pull out all stops and build Factories in America and pay people a living wage in doing so.... And they'd not have to raise the sales price of the tennis shoes.

We already pay a cost as if it was built with $20 average labor... !!!!!! When we realize these things, we can change everything....

I purchased American made jeans, made in a mainland US clothing company by people that are someone's neighbors in a US state. The jeans last as long as Levis and cost less. Why is that, if American labor run up the price? The answer is that the American company does not have a large host of $1+ million per year executives or big branding campaigns, it has local owners, workers, workers benefits and that is it.

His entire house of cards is built on the crumbling foundations of a failed economics policy. The idea being if we just didn’t have so many old people, the Horse and Sparrow theory would work as advertised. Otherwise the only other conclusion you can draw is the prime directive of the GOP is to funnel money to the wealthiest Americans.

What part of "paid into with every paycheque of a worker's life" don't you get? Is it because you haven't earned an honest nickel in your life, yet somehow feel the need to shit on people for collecting what is their due? I guess you have also forgotten the College Years. Those halcyon days when you got through school on the public's dime?

Goddammit you make me sick. At this moment, you are at the top of my Most Hated List. And, at this moment, it feels like it's going to take an awful lot for someone to vault over you. Fuck off and die..
