special election, which has to be at least 60 days from the date when Gov. Wolf sets the date. That puts the special election at the end of July or even August. Seems like a huge waste of money for a seat that will disappear in a few months after the special election. You not only have to take into account the cost to the taxpayers, but also how many millions will the two Parties spend for a "4 or 5 months-and-out" seat?

There was no retirement/resignation to trigger a special election like there is with Dent stepping down.

He won his seat by 20 points in 2016, a red wave year. The next Democrat running probably would have won it by 30 with how special elections have gone this year.
