The pixs that changed America

[IMG][/IMG]

When Lewis Hine started photographing children at work in 1908, child labour was pervasive in American industry. His shocking images – from the cotton mills of Carolina to the coal breakers in Pennsylvania – helped bring about child labour laws. Hine was also renowned for his deeply empathetic portraits of immigrants at Ellis Island, and his work documenting construction workers at the Empire State Building

We need to stop isolationists and greedy plutocrats from repressing the natural flow of immigrants (and emigrants). We need to pay workers a decent wage, guarantee healthcare for all, and a base level of needs. </wish_list>

Those are babies! And look at the supervisor's face with that stick to beat them if they are not working hard enough.

THIS is where the vile repugs want to take our country. Several states have considered rolling back the child labor laws recently, I seem to recall.

125 miles from north Philadelphia to NY City and Pres. Roosevelt's Long Island summer home, Sagamore Hill to publicize the plight of children who suffered stunted growth, injuries and other abuses from working in textile mills and coal mills.
