Sean Hannity News Gets Folded Into Deep State Conspiracy

News broke this afternoon that Fox News host Sean Hannity was the secret third client of Michael Cohen, the lawyer who allegedly arranged massive payouts to women who had affairs with President Trump and former RNC fundraiser Elliot Broidy. Hannity’s name surfaced in connection with Cohen’s challenge to the FBI’s seizure of records from his office based on assertions of the need to protect attorney client confidentiality.

The news came as a shock to many in the media, but Trump-supporting conspiracy theorists have already begun their work weaving the revelation into their ongoing conspiracy theory narrative alleging that the so-called “deep state” or “shadow government” is secretly working to undermine the Trump administration, its allies in the media, and conservative voters.

Last December, Hannity told former White House strategist and Breitbart executive Steve Bannon that he feared that he “may end up in jail” for defending Trump against a deep-state effort to remove Trump from office. “By the way, people like us may end up in jail,” he told Bannon. “Let me tell you. They will stop at nothing. This is what I’m trying to get across to people. This is serious. This is the rule of law in this country now.”

Since then, conspiracy theorists like Hannity have ramped up the rhetoric they’ve used to discuss what they believed to be direct opposition from the deep state. Conservatives across right-wing media have been repeatedly warning voters that government agencies, technology companies, and satanic forces have been working in tandem to undo people who support Trump.

in secret our underground lair, but we remain in a state of deep concentration trying to drive Hannity and Drumpf crazy. Can you give us a status report for those of you above ground?

but that's less than no excuse for them because to date almost all have been voting with the crazies even while they talk sense outside the voting booth.

Those who watch MSNBC and CNN see sensible conservatives, like Scarborough, who disperse both truth and partisan distortions of truth that are mostly connected to reality; and those typically only support the corruption that benefits the very wealthy they ally with. They prefer it be carried out in such a way that supporting it doesn't blow their respectable (self) image, of course.

By 'sensible' you mean 'smart enough to keep their mouth shut about their own Greed and whatever Crimes may have come from it'.

Yeah...I'd say that's an accurate description of (DI) Joey.

any more than all liberals are "chill, man" types, so I imagine it's the same with the talking heads.
Conservatives and liberals have genuinely different ways, genetically wired, of seeing moral issues. Theirs are real, but we often don't understand them so assume they're deficient. And very much vice versa. It's fascinating to read about.

I did notice on moving from California to Georgia that there is a somewhat increased emphasis on personal property rights and money in general, over wellbeing of others in general. Yet among their own circles they're typically generous with their time and money, often strikingly so.

I saw the emphasis on money among some conservatives back in California too. Like a pair doing PTA cashier duty at a little Christmas store we ran. It was supposed to allow young children to choose and buy cheap gifts for their families among a large selection for anywhere from a quarter to $5. It was a very nice activity, and we were supposed to help young children have a valuable and happy learning experience with giving. Yet I found this pair refusing to take back a broken toy, a piece of easily broken junk to begin with, because they seemed to think the purpose was to raise money. They also stood by the register instead of crouching with small children to help them along (they often forgot people, and some always wanted to spend it all on themselves. ) I'd bet everything we did take in that year, if it were mine, that both of those voted for Trump, but others were wonderful and needed no policing from anyone to do a very caring job.
