David Roberts at Vox wrote an AWESOME article in 2017 discussing Pruitt and his relation to the GOP.

Pruitts remarks sparked a news cycle that is, to this 10-year veteran of the climate beat, extremely and tediously familiar. I could have scripted the whole thing in advance. As always, it seems to me that people are missing the point in two key ways.

Given his paranoia it would not surprise me if it came down that he tries to get a permanent security detail either from the government or the energy companies once he leaves office.
He is doing a very effective job at destroying the EPA and the environment.
