Just spit-balling here, but I think I see their play...

Follow me for a moment:
Step one:
US Attorney Geoffrey Berman’s interim appointment for Preet Bahara’s seat as US Attorney for the Southern District of New York runs out in early May. Berman has, “surprise”, recused himself from the Cohen investigation and raid. A recusal that has been OK’d by Rod Rosenstein at Justice.
If Trump nominates someone in his pocket who will not recuse, that sets up a 120-day window to shut down the Cohen Investigation.
Step two:
Meanwhile… three Republican Hose Chairman have asked the DOJ to provide copies of FBI Director Comey’s memos detailing conversations he had with the President before he was fired.
If Rosenstein refuses to release the in-redacted memos, the house has teed-up the firing of Rosenstein and hence, Mueller.
Step three:
Looks like Russia and China want “Peace” on the Korean Peninsula and are ready to use Trump as t heir instrument to elevate Kim Jung Un on the world stage.
1- Cohen case spiked
2- Mueller fired
3- All hail trump the peacemaker.

This is what keeps me up at night… and just now I heard Andrea Mitchell going on about how unprecedented it would be for Trump to bring peace in Korea and how it would cement his place in history….they are already setting the stage.

IMO.

Putin has zero interest in doing anything to help Trump. His goal is destabilization. There are no benefits to him helping to stabilize the Trump Presidency. All of Putin's recent wounds have been self inflicted.

Putin simply gains strength as the US is weakened on the world stage.

as long as he remains useful to them. It is in their interest to keep the agent of chaos in the oval until, at least, after the mid-terms. They also need to keep the Republican congress in there.

or how it would benefit them in any way. Russia gains clout as we back off of the world stage. Russia does not gain from a respected US presence on the world stage.

If the Democrats take over at the mid-term... Agent Chaos goes down and the sanctions get immediately instated.
The Russians play the long game. It does benefit them for Trump to be hailed as a hero, for at least the next little while. He is their puppet and they can burn him down later.

... I've said before that the Russians don't really like Trump at all. Putin - who is ruthless and an ass, but nevertheless competent - sees the same dysfunctional boobs we all see when he looks at Trump and his cabal. He has no respect for them.

But he is quite willing to use Trump to sow further dysfunction in our government and in the western democracies generally. Putin may well WANT to see Trump prosecuted and republicans defeated in upcoming elections because that will encourage more political turmoil and help tear us down.

I was thinking this the other day listening to her. She seems so unoriginal in her reporting anymore. Half the time annoying the other half, boring.

10. Isn't NY AG Schneiderman involved in the Cohen investigation?

He is working for NY State Government and is separate entity from US Attorney office, I think. How would replacing the US Attorney with someone compliant stop the NY investigation?

So long as Cohen violated NY State laws, I think the investigation continues.

it will be IN SPITE of Trump. All Trump has been doing has been to taunt Kim Jong-Un and strategize about giving NK a "bloody nose". Not really the rhetoric of a peacemaker.

I suspect that Trump probably actually admires Kim Jong-Un and probably wishes he had the kind of control and adoration as he does.

Of course, Trump may undercut whatever positive press coverage he gets by the next tweetstorm and/or development in the "Trussia" investigation.
