DeKalb County Receives No Proposals For Confederate Monument (GA)

STEPHANNIE STOKES • APR 16, 2018

DeKalb County still hasn’t heard from anyone willing to take on its Confederate monument.

The county initially asked for proposals back in January and then extended the response period two times ...

DeKalb Commissioner Jeff Rader ... said the county did get a lot of general suggestions for what to do with the monument, that it be placed in context or put in a museum ...

The DeKalb County Commission voted on Jan. 23 to begin the process of relocating the statue ...

I've no problem with them in museums. But, I don't want to see a repeat of Charlottesville-type racists worshiping at their base.

Seems if they can't get a taker, they should let the stone be reused/repurposed for something else.

If it's bronze, it has scrap metal value. If it's marble, turn it into marble chips and use them in a public garden.

There's always a solution.

because I entered from the back where the parking is, I have never seen this statue. Kind of embarrassing.
