Could this be why Trump is so unhinged about the prosecution of Cohen in New York?

Cohen is his fixer. Remember the case of then 13-year-old who said she was kept chained to a bed, and that Trump raped her? She had a press conference scheduled days before the election, but Gloria Allred announced she had canceled because of death threats.

Could Cohen have been involved in that situation?

Also: Rachel said last night that Trump could appoint a new U.S. attorney for that district in two-and-a-half weeks, when the acting appointee, who has recused himself, has to be either finalized or discarded. Could a new district attorney pull the plug on the trial?

As AG, ANY person who has a political or personal relationship with Trump MUST recuse (DOJ Conflicts Rule, 28 CFR 45. 2). So he could not put a crony in that position who could scuttle the investigation if the rule were to be enforced.

That is a Justice Department Rule, and it would have to be enforced by the Justice Department. That would fall on the shoulders of Sessions, since technically, it is not part of the Russia investigation, which Rosenstein supervises.

I can imagine Sessions going either way. If he were to not enforce recusal in this case, he not only would look like a hypocrite, it would also give Trump a good reason to even more vigorously attack Sessions' earlier recusal. If he were to enforce recusal, he would catch the same hell from Trump. So what would Sessions do? He would get abused by Trump either way, but in the first scenario, he also would look hypocritical. It's two negatives to one, thus I say he enforces recusal.

Interestingly, it actually might still be a part of the Russia investigation, with Rosenstein having moved it to the Southern District of New York only to handle the investigative work, thereby avoiding political controversy. A temporary abeyance of controversy might be a reason to keep this secret for now. So, if that is true, then the Cohen case would still be under the Mueller investigation umbrella, and supervised by Rosenstein.

But, imagine what may happen if Trump were to appoint a crony, requiring Rosenstein to enforce the recusal, thereby revealing that the Cohen case was still a part of Mueller's work. Hell would descend on Rosenstein, to say the least! The same hell would descend on Mueller from the Trumpers, who would be attacking him for the investigation going too far afield.

Man oh man....things are hot and getting hotter!

And I'm sitting here saying to myself, "The head of your country was accused of raping an imprisoned 13 year old, and you have forgotten about that one." These are the times we live in.

...the book by Michael Wolff, Steve Bannon is quoted as saying they paid off 100 women during the last weeks of the campaign to keep them from coming forward and embarrassing Trump. It was Michael Cohen who contacted the women and got them to sign NDAs, I'm sure many were paid too. Most likely Stormy Daniels was included in that number, but her name wasn't specifically mentioned in "Fire and Fury."

Here's the thing: there were a bunch of women who refused to sign NDAs and they did come forward and accuse him of sexual misconduct of one kind or another (back in 2016). They weren't all about rape, many had been groped or kissed without them giving permission. The story about the 13 year old girl was especially horrifying but I guess it wasn't proven or maybe she was paid off. (Don't know.) In Fire and Fury Wolff doesn't name the women but he makes it clear that Cohen handled all of those contacts, getting them to sign the NDAs. You can bet that info is included in his confiscated records.

Cohen grew up speaking Russian in an area of Long Island where there were many Russian immigrants including some in the Russian mob. Since Cohen speaks Russian and Trump doesn't, he probably handled the money-laundering deals with the oligarchs and mob guys. He probably has a lot of documents and emails going back 20 years or more, in Russian. Trump casinos, Trump hotels etc. all did "bidness" with the mob.

...but I think I read it in this article in the New Yorker:

link: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/04/will-michael-cohen-snitch-on-trump.html

I believe this is the one that tells how Michael Cohen grew up in the area on Long Island where a lot of Russian immigrants settled. His wife is from the same area and her family is connected to the Russian mob. That's how Cohen got the into the taxicab business. It's possible that his wife speaks Russian, but I thought I read that he does too.

If this is not the article, then it was a different one in the New Yorker that was published within the past week.
