Hey, why is Donald Trump filing for an extension to pay federal income tax?

He's supposed to have divested from ALL his businesses while serving as President.

He could file on an EZ 1040 form: presidential salary, interest from bank account, charitable contributions and he's done.

Ivanka could have filled it out, it's that easy.

There should be an investigation on that extension.

1. An investigation?

Anyone can file for the automatic extension to October. Why would an "investigation" be needed of something that millions of people do routinely?

3. Because the president has no business interests

So his tax return should take 10 minutes to prepare. What does he need an extension for?

Since we aren’t familiar with the concept of exaggeration, let me say “less than three months”. And yeah I think an experienced businessman with the number of accountants he has can turn around a 45 page return in that time. At least he could if he wasn’t filing a return that included his many business interests, which his sons are now the guardians of.

The law in this instance provides for an automatic extension on request.

It doesn't matter if he's a tax cheat or not, anyone who sends in the form is entitled to one.

Or are you saying that because he is a tax cheat, then different rules apply to his taxes that don't apply to anyone else's?

If someone earns more income than say....$500K a year, they shouldn’t get a check.

I firmly believe Mueller obtained his previous tax returns last year, at the beginning of the Special Counsel investigation.

Cheeto knows he is fucked on money laundering. He is trying to delay the inevitable.

to Trump's accountant. They wouldn't have to be acquired from the IRS. The extension request is irrelevant. He's entitled to an extension because they are automatic if you ask for one, regardless of your motive for asking - as long as you pay whatever tax is due.

because the documents weren't available soon enough, so she told me she'd be requesting an extension. There is nothing sinister about this. Anyone who wants an extension can get one automatically just by sending in a form; the only catch is that if you owe anything you have to send the money, or an estimate, on the usual filing day. There's nothing questionable about this; millions of people do it every year. It just gives you another four months to get all your paperwork together.

Spanky does a lot of dodgy stuff but requesting a tax filing extension isn't in that category.

17. You don't understand. It's not an extension to pay.

It's extension to file. He doesn't actually pay any taxes.
