to praise others while appearing to reject praise for oneself. For instance, one man may say to another, "Your son is a very good student," and the response would be, "Oh, no, YOUR son is a much better student." All this is just a formality. Trump wouldn't understand this and would likely revel in all the praise. It would feed right into his ego.

My boyfriend lived and taught in Japan for quite a few years and I've learned a lot from him.
