In an interview with David Remnick, James Comey dodges a question about Rudy joining Trump’s team: “I don’t know what to make of it....There’s no doubt he’s a smart and skilled attorney.”

Remnick asks Comey why he didn’t investigate Trump’s businesses when Comey was a US attorney in NY. Comey did not really have an answer.

Comey says he doesn’t know whether Trump has an FBI file, adds: “And if I knew I wouldn’t tell you.”

Comey says he’s voting next election. He adds that the last time he thought of myself as a Republican was 2012, says he’s not going to be a Democrat, and his political affiliation is “a neither.”

Asked about @NateSilver538’s claim that the Comey letter decided the election, Comey says “I hope that’s not true.” He adds that he hopes another academic study is released contradicting Silver.

Comey says he wishes Anthony Weiner had never been born.

Comey says his wife asked him why he told @jaketapper he didn’t dislike Trump. Comey says he actually feels sorry for Trump because “he has an emptiness inside of him and a need for affirmation I’ve never seen in an adult.”

There it is: Comey says we’d probably be better off if Hillary Clinton was president, adds that the country bears responsibility for poor presidential choices.
